ENABLING AN IM USER TO NAVIGATE A VIRTUAL WORLD
A user is enabled to interact with a virtual world environment using an instant messenger application by enabling a user to enter the virtual world environment using the instant messenger application that includes an instant messaging (IM) user interface, generating and managing an avatar to represent the user in the virtual world environment, monitoring a sub-portion of the virtual world environment corresponding to a current location of the user in the virtual world environment, determining descriptions of activities taking place in the sub-portion of the virtual world environment based on the monitoring, and providing the user with the determined descriptions of activities taking place in the sub-portion of the virtual world environment via the IM user interface.
TELEVISION SIGN ON FOR PERSONALIZATION IN A MULTI-USER ENVIRONMENT
Systems and methods according to the present invention provide sign on systems for devices, e.g., televisions, which balance ease of use with security and access control that is amenable to, e.g., household usage.
ADAPTABLE PROGRAMMING GUIDE FOR NETWORKED DEVICES
In one embodiment, a method of generating an electronic program guide for a user of an entertainment system is disclosed. The method includes retrieving, by a user computer in communication with the entertainment system, preference criteria corresponding to one or more user preferences describing payment requirements. The user computer receives a plurality of content listings, each content listing comprising a content title, an indication of a content source, and a payment requirement, and a search query including a content title. The user computer also identifies a subset of the plurality of content listings based on content title and the search query, and ranks each content listing in the subset based on a comparison of the preference criteria and the payment requirement of each content listing in the subset. A content entry in the electronic program guide is created comprising each content listing in the subset in ranked order.
METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR REMOTELY TRANSCODING CONTENT
A system and method for remotely transcoding content includes a cloud location storing content corresponding to content titles, generating a playlist corresponding to content titles subscribed to by a user of a user device stored therein, and communicating the playlist to the user device. A user device is in communication with the cloud location through a network. The user device generates a selection signal for selecting a first content title from the playlist to form a selection. The user device negotiates optimal settings by intercommunicating between the user device and the cloud location in response to forming the selection. The user device communicates the selection to the cloud location. The cloud location has a transcoder device transcoding content corresponding to the selection to form transcoded content in response to the optimal settings. The cloud location communicates the transcoded content to the user device.
SYSTEMS AND PROCESSES FOR DELIVERING DIGITAL VIDEO CONTENT BASED UPON EXCITEMENT DATA
Processes, systems and devices are described to enhance the television or other media viewing experience based upon excitement data that is associated with the program. Excitement data can be used to identify the most exciting portions of media programs, therefore allowing for improved identification of programs or portions of programs for viewing, streaming, recording or other purposes.
Information Processing Apparatus, Information Processing Method, And Program
An information processing apparatus may include circuitry configured to control: receiving first viewing information indicating a user viewing situation of a first advertisement content via broadcast signals determined from second viewing information using user identification information; and identifying a second advertisement content based on the first viewing information and a predetermined viewing time condition.
Systems and methods for adjusting buffer size
Methods and systems are provided for adjusting a size of a buffer based on a probability that a rewind request will be received during a currently playing segment of media. When the system determines that receiving a rewind request is likely, the system will increase the size of a buffer such that the rewind request can be accommodated using data from the buffer. When the system determines that receiving a rewind request is unlikely, the system will decrease the size of the buffer to free resources for other system components.
Apparatus, system, and method for multi-bitrate content streaming
An apparatus, system, and method for maintaining a programming lineup of adaptive-bitrate content streaming is provided. The apparatus includes a timeline module configured to maintain a programming lineup of media content available over a network. The media content may comprise a plurality of streamlets. The apparatus also includes at least one data module configured to maintain multi-bitrate streamlet information. The system includes the apparatus and a client module configured to acquire content based upon the programming lineup provided by the timeline module. The method includes maintaining a programming lineup of media content available over a network, and maintaining multi-bitrate streamlet information.
Multimodal sequential recommendation with window co-attention
A multimodal recommendation identification system analyzes data describing a sequence of past content item interactions to generate a recommendation for a content item for a user. An indication of the recommended content item is provided to a website hosting system or recommendation system so that the recommended content item is displayed or otherwise presented to the user. The multimodal recommendation identification system identifies a content item to recommend to the user by generating an encoding that encodes identifiers of the sequence of content items the user has interacted with and generating encodings that encode multimodal information for content items in the sequence of content items the user has interacted with. An aggregated information encoding for a user based on these encodings and a system analyzes the content item sequence encoding and interaction between the content item sequence encoding and the multiple modality encodings to generate the aggregated information encoding.
Systems and methods for reconciling playback using progress point information
The systems and methods are described herein for playback of content based on progress point information. The systems and methods detect nearby media devices to transmit or request progress point information. Based on the communicated progress point information, the system may generate an option to play back content at a point within the content up to which content was last consumed. When content providers offer different versions of one content item and the user does not select to play back content from the content provider associated with the progress point information, the system determines a proper playback point in other content providers.
