System and method of content acquisition and delivery

A method includes creating a first calendar event in an electronic calendar associated with a user. The first calendar event corresponds to a first viewing time and is associated with delivery of media content to a first device associated with the user. The method further includes rescheduling the first calendar event in response to determining that a scheduling conflict exists between the first calendar event and a second calendar event. Rescheduling the first calendar event includes modifying the first calendar event to correspond to a second viewing time and determining, based on the second viewing time, a second device to deliver the media content to. The second device is associated with the user.

Systems and methods for timing the recording and playback of television programming
09794628 · 2017-10-17 · ·

Various arrangements are presented for recording broadcast television programming. An electronic programming guide database may be accessed to determine a scheduled start time and a scheduled end time for the broadcast television program. A timer may be defined to record the broadcast television program. The start time for the timer may be a first predefined period of time before the scheduled start time of the broadcast television program and an end time for the timer may be a second predefined period of time after the scheduled end time of the broadcast television program. The broadcast television program may be recorded, the recording beginning at the start time of the timer and ending at the end time of the timer. One or more bookmarks that are based on the scheduled start time and/or scheduled end time of the broadcast television program may be created for the recorded television program.

DELAY OF SOCIAL MEDIA DURING TIME-SHIFTED VIEWING OF MULTI-MEDIA PRESENTATIONS
20170295389 · 2017-10-12 · ·

A method that provides a delay of social media feeds during time-shifted viewing of multi-media presentations including the steps of receiving a media presentation, time-shifting the media presentation for a period of time, receiving a social media message regarding the media presentation, and delaying presentation of the social media message for the period of time.

SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR SYNCHRONIZING MEDIA ASSET PLAYBACK ON MULTIPLE DEVICES
20170251260 · 2017-08-31 ·

Systems and methods are described herein for recommending media assets for a group. A media guidance application may generate recommendations for media assets along with indications of other users that may be interested in consuming the media asset. For example, the media guidance application may identify a media asset that matches a media preference of a first user and identify a second user connected to the first user in a social network, wherein the media asset matches at least one media preference associated with the second user. A media recommendation screen may be generated that includes both an indication of the media asset as well as an indication of the second user.

Systems and methods for alerting users of the postponed recording of programs

Systems and methods are provided herein in relation to notifications about alternative viewing opportunities for recording and playback of media programs. In particular, the systems and methods provide users with information related to alternative recorded programming viewing opportunities for programs scheduled for recording by a user.

Intelligent recording of favorite video content using a video services receiver
09749689 · 2017-08-29 · ·

A video services receiver and related operating methods are presented here. The video services receiver is configured to maintain a database that indicates a viewing pattern for a user of the video services receiver. The video services receiver is configured to detect a condition that is inconsistent with the maintained viewing pattern for the user. In response to the detection of an inconsistent condition, the video services receiver records a designated program event included in the viewing pattern for the user, wherein the recording addresses the detected condition. In some scenarios, the receiver buffers the designated program event to allow the user to view the entirety of the buffered program event. In other scenarios, the receiver records the designated program event and sends a notification to the user when the receiver determines that the user is absent or is not viewing any programming from the receiver.

Systems and methods for recording and playing back programs having desirable recording attributes

Systems and methods for recording multiple copies of a program are provided. The method may include receiving a user instruction to record a program. A determination may be made to record multiple copies of the program. In response to the determination, multiple copies of the program may be recorded. A user instruction to display the recorded program may be received. A copy of the program may be played back. The user may switch to another copy of the recorded program if the original copy lacks desirable recording attributes, or the interactive television application may automatically switch to another copy of the program.

Multi-stream premises apparatus and methods for use in a content delivery network

Apparatus and methods for enhanced tuner efficiency, wherein tuner resources function to permit multiple content streams to be demultiplexed and thus made available for subsequent display. In one embodiment, Customer Premises Equipment (CPE) comprises a resource manager on which a guide application is run to control the tuning of an available tuner resource. This approach obviate reliance on OCAP or other proprietary vendor architecture applications. In another variant, the CPE is adapted to receive RF source data from a wideband tuner, or multiple tuners. The CPE may also be utilized in conjunction with other system configurations designed to enforce a security or other policies within a premises network. The CPE may also employ ‘look ahead’ capabilities to anticipate a QAM stream content before it is received.

METHODS AND SYSTEMS FOR BYPASSING PREEMPTIONS IN RECORDED MEDIA ASSETS
20220312067 · 2022-09-29 ·

Methods and systems for transmitting an interruption-free version of a television program for recording on a user equipment device. In one aspect, a system transmits a first stream including a television program to a user equipment device. The system receives an indication that the television program is being recorded on the user equipment device. The system determines whether an interruption is imminent during transmission of the television program. In response to determining that the interruption is imminent, the system generates a second stream including the television program. The second stream does not include the interruption during the transmission of the television program. The system transmits the second stream to the user equipment device along with an instruction to switch recording of the television program from the first stream to the second stream.

Queue Versioning
20220035857 · 2022-02-03 ·

Embodiments described herein may involve queue versioning. An example implementation may involve a playback device initiating playback of a queue including one or more first audio streams. A queue identification token stored in data storage represents a current version of the queue. The playback device receives, from a computing system, data representing instructions to add one or more second audio streams to the queue, the instructions including an indication of the one or more second audio streams and a first token representing an expected queue version. The playback device determines whether the expected queue version represented by the first token matches the current version of the queue represented by the queue identification token. If not, the playback device foregoes adding the one or more second audio streams to the queue.
