A system and method for operating the same includes a language processing module generating a search request text signal and determining identified data from the search request text signal. A search module generates search results in response to the search request text signal. A dialog manager classifies the search request text signal into a response classification associated with a plurality of templates, selects a first template from the plurality of templates in response to the response classification and corrects search results in response to the identified data and the template to form a corrected response signal. A device receives and displays the corrected response signal.

Authenticating the location of a viewing device for receiving content includes storing a plurality of connection identifiers in a database, the connection identifiers being associated with a plurality of networking devices and a plurality of user accounts. A viewing device sends a request to access content which is received by a server. The request is associated with a user account. One or more first connection identifiers is selected from the database based on the user account to which the request is associated. A second connection identifier is obtained based on a connection between the viewing device and the server. It is determined if the second connection identifier matches one of the one or more first connection identifiers. Content is provided to the viewing device if the second connection identifier matches one of the one or more of the first connection identifiers.

Systems and methods for providing blackout support in video mosaic and television environments are disclosed. In response to receiving a request for a video mosaic page, screen data or application data, which may include blackout information, is received. The blacked out content may be automatically recorded to the user equipment or a network server for later playback after the blackout has expired. In addition, an overlay of options associated with the blacked out asset may be presented. The overlay may include options to substitute the blacked out asset with replacement content, search for similar content, retrieve more information about the blackout, or present summary information, such as a sports ticker, in place of the blacked out cell.

Technologies are disclosed for associating a subscriber's subscription profile established with a local media content delivery network, or MSO, with a remote CPE and/or network gateway device, perhaps for example served by the same MSO. One or more techniques may control the delivery of a subscriber's media content, perhaps for example by a media control device. Techniques may include receiving one or more credentials by the media control device, where the media control device is geographically remote from the subscriber's local media content delivery network. A signal may be sent to a media content delivery network device, where the signal may include information corresponding to the credentials. A configuration may be received for the subscriber's local media content delivery network in response to the signal. The configuration may be installed on the media control device. Media content may be delivered by the media control device.

Embodiments of the present invention provide a method, system and computer program product for exciting moment notification for a live event. An exciting moment notification method includes first defining in a table in memory of a computer, an exciting moment occurring during a live event, such as a card game, awards program or a sporting event, and then annotating a multiplicity of images of different instances of the live event with the exciting moment. The method further includes video streaming a live instance of the live event over a computer communications network and matching a frame of the video streamed live instance in the memory of the computer to an annotated one of the multiplicity of images. Finally, the method includes transmitting a message to at least one subscriber of the instance of the live event indicating an occurrence of the exciting moment.

A system (100) for enabling a user to select media content in an entertainment environment, comprising a remote control device (110) having a set of user-activated keys and a speech activation circuit adapted to enable a speech signal; a speech engine (160) comprising a speech recognizer (170); an application wrapper (180) configured to recognize substantive meaning in the speech signal; and a media content controller (190) configured to select media content. Every function that can be executed by activation of the user-activated keys can also be executed by the speech engine (160) in response to the recognized substantive meaning.

Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, determining that an addressable user is subscribed to at least a first platform and a second platform that is different from the first platform, assigning an identification that maps to each of the first platform and the second platform, determining that an advertisement associated with a buyer is available to be delivered to the addressable user via the first platform, the second platform, or a combination thereof, in accordance with a first parameter associated with the addressable user and at least a second parameter associated with the first platform, the second platform, or the combination thereof, and responsive to the determining that the advertisement is available, delivering the advertisement to the addressable user in accordance with the identification. Devices, systems, and processes are described for seamless use of timers across multiple user devices on a LAN. A system may include a first user device, communicatively coupled to the LAN, having at least one first tuner and a first hardware processor configured for facilitating a first timer manager. A second user device communicatively coupled to the LAN may include at least one second tuner and a second hardware processor configured for facilitating a second timer manager. Each of the first timer manager and the second timer manager may be configured to populate a universal timer schedule that identifies at least one of a future availability and a future use for each of the at least one first tuner and the at least one second tuner. The universal timer schedule is populated based upon a request type, such as an auto-tune, PPV, original content, rerun, and a Joey request type.

In some embodiments, an electronic device presents a plurality of representations of content items that are available on a respective channel in response to successfully subscribing the respective channel. In some embodiments, an electronic device plays content that is provided by a channel in a unified media browsing application. In some embodiments, an electronic device presents information about subscribing to a channel based on content consumption activity of the user on the electronic device in accordance with some embodiments of the disclosure.
