A media rendering device and method for generation of a simplified user interface are provided. The media rendering device determines a user profile of a user of the media rendering device. The media rendering device includes a plurality of user interface modes including a specific user interface mode associated with a plurality of user interface elements. The media rendering device determines a first user interface mode based on the user profile. The first user interface mode may be associated with a first subset of user interface elements of the plurality of user interface elements. The media rendering device generates a graphical user interface (GUI) based on the first subset of user interface elements. The media rendering device controls a display device to display the generated GUI.

Video content is uploaded via the Internet to a video-on-demand (VOD) server identified by a title and a hierarchical address of categories and subcategories for categorizing the title. The VOD server converts and stores the video content at a storage address in a video content database linked to the title. The title is listed in a location of an electronic program guide (EPG) using the same categories and subcategories as in its hierarchical address. Any TV subscriber can access the EPG and navigate through its categories and subcategories to find a title for viewing on the TV. Systems and processes for operating an intelligent automated assistant are provided. In one example process, information associated with media playback is received from one or more user devices. A speech request for a media item is received from a user. At least the speech request and the information associated with media playback is transmitted to a second electronic device. Based on at least the speech request and the information associated with media playback, an instruction for media playback on a secondary user device is received. At least one task is performed based on the instruction for media playback.

Systems and methods for authorizing operations associated with blocked media assets using two-factor authentication. In some aspects, a media guidance application (e.g., executed by a set-top box or other user equipment used to store and display media assets) prompts a user for a password (e.g., a personal information number) in order to unlock the content for viewing. In response to receiving a second request from the user to perform an operation related to the media asset (e.g., delete), the media guidance application prompts the user for an additional factor confirming his or her identity, consistent with two-factor authentication protocol. If the user's identity is authenticated as a user that has authority to perform the operation related to the media asset (e.g., delete the stored media asset), the media guidance application performs the operation related to the media asset (e.g., deletes the media asset).

As described herein, a machine learning system, method, and computer program are provided to predict which resident of a residential space is watching television for content targeting purposes. In use, a login to a television service on a television device in a residential space is detected. Additionally, information defining a plurality of residents of the residential space is identified. Further, a profile determined for the login is identified, where the profile is associated with a particular resident of the plurality of residents or a particular resident group of the plurality of residents. Still yet, the profile and the information defining the plurality of residents of the residential space is input to a machine learning model to predict one or more residents of the plurality of residents that is consuming the television service on the television device.

An electronic apparatus is provided. The electronic apparatus includes: a display; and a processor configured to: control the display to display a content based on one mode of a plurality of display modes, receive a user voice in real time while the content is being displayed, identify user's age information corresponding to the received user voice, identify whether or not the one mode is a kids mode when the identified user's age information is less than a threshold value, and change the one mode to the kids mode when it is identified that the one mode is not the kids mode.

In a system for integrating authentication of pay television streams for a sports gaming event using a graphical interface of a computing device application, the system including: a processor configured to: receive authentication information from a user; verify the authentication information with a media service provider; display a live video stream on the graphical interface in response to the verification of the authentication information; receive sports data about the sporting event via a network; access a database of historical statistics relating to the sporting event and to players playing in the sporting event; select at least one betting scenario from a betting scenario database based on the sports data and the historical statistics; display the at least one betting scenario on the graphical interface; and receive a response to the at least one betting scenario from the user.

A remote control with a microphone subsystem comprising a pair of internal microphones is shown and described. When connected to a remote-control base station that is itself connected to an external power source, the microphone subsystem is continuously energized by the external power source, and the pair of internal microphones operate as far field microphones that receive oral commands uttered by a user from a distance. When the remote control is removed from the base, the microphone subsystem is configured for selective connection to an internal power source by actuating a user control on the remote control. In the external power source mode, signals from both microphones are digitally processed to provide a far-field microphone array with beam forming. In the direct current mode, only one microphone's signals are digitally processed as a simple monaural signal (or they are not digitally processed). The remote control also includes a video camera capable of capturing video image data of the user and transmitting it to an associated television for facial recognition of the user.
