Methods, systems, and media for providing personalized notifications to video viewers are provided. In some embodiments, the method comprises: receiving, using a hardware processor, one or more prompts to be presented in association with a video from a user account associated with the video; receiving, from the user account associated with the video, one or more notifications, wherein each of the one or more prompts is associated with one of the one or more notifications; causing the one or more prompts to be presented in association with presentation of the video to a user; receiving an indication that a first prompt of the one or more of the prompts was selected by the user; causing a notification associated with the first prompt to be presented to the user in response to receiving the indication.

A system and method for modeling and distributing image data of interest to users is disclosed. Users on user devices such as mobile phones send request messages for image data captured by surveillance cameras of the system. The request messages include information for selecting the image data, such as camera number and time of recording of the image data, in examples. In response, an application server of the system collects the image data from the surveillance cameras, and supplies image data to the users based on a model that the application server creates and updates for each of the users. The model ranks image data of potential interest for each of the users, where the model is based on the information for selecting the image data provided by the users. Preferably, a machine learning application of the application server creates the model for each of the users.

In an embodiment, a data processing method comprises a first computer obtaining access to a digitally stored content item, the content item being stored with content item metadata identifying one or more of a creator of the content item, a title of the content item, description of the content item, content type of the content item, sharing settings of the content item, a taxonomy of the content item, or a category type of the taxonomy of the content item; receiving, at the first computer, a request to generate a task related to the content item; generating and storing a task record based, at least in part, on the content item metadata, the task record comprising an identifier of the task and the identifier of the content item; and causing display, on a second computer, a graphical representation of the task based, at least in part, on the task record.

A method of and system for enabling a distributed entertainment system over a computing device is described herein. When implementing a distributed entertainment system wherein the entertainment system is directly correlated to live events or televised programs, there are a number of issues that must be addressed such as differing timing and channels of television programs and separate state laws. Furthermore, there are a plethora of varying computing device models possibly requiring model-specific software. An Activity Client is provided to handle such concerns. Furthermore, since time is of the essence for activities based on live or televised events, it is necessary to ensure a computing device is able to receive the necessary updates for the program before the event begins. By providing only the needed components instead of entire data packages, the present invention is able to much more efficiently prepare users' computing devices in time.

The present application provides a method and a device for displaying an anchor competition process. A network device obtains information on user support respectively won by at least two anchors during the competition in real time, wherein the at least two anchors participate in the same anchor competition and are displayed in a same live window; adjusts the display of the anchor competition for the at least two anchors in the live window according to the information on user support respectively won by the at least two anchors; sends the adjusted display of the anchor competition to user equipments displaying the competition between the at least two anchors, or presents the adjusted display of the anchor competition to users who are watching the competition between the at least two anchors. The present application facilitates users to obtain competition information intuitively, improve efficiency of users in obtaining information, and enhance user experience.

Examples described herein generally relate to obtaining, from a remote source, media content for rendering in a media player, obtaining, based on obtaining the media content, metadata related to the media content including an indication of a question related to the media content and a timestamp associated with the media content to which the question applies, rendering the media content within the media player, and displaying, by the media player and while rendering the media content, an indicator of the timestamp related to displaying the question.

A system for assisting a content consumer to select content services, the system including a processor that is configured to execute a matching algorithm. The matching algorithm comprises interviewing the content consumer for questions in a plurality of categories, determining a point system for answers obtained by the interviewing step, wherein the answers indicate entertainment interests of the content consumer; calculating a service score for each content service based on the point system, wherein the service score indicates an agreement between a content service and the entertainment interests of the content consumer; and selecting a pre-determined number of content services based on the service score.

An access node limits access of a user to a medium such as an Internet resource of a television program. The access node comprises upstream and downstream interfaces, a memory and a processor. The upstream interface is connectable to an Internet service provider. The downstream interface is connectable to a client device. The memory stores a user account for a user of the client device. The processor detects, via the downstream interface, an access from the user of the client device, in response to detecting the access, causes the client device to display a challenge, receives, via the downstream interface, a challenge response from the client device, and if the challenge response is a correct response, adds to the user account, a credit for connection of the client device to the medium. The access node may be part of a system including a server.

The present invention enables real-time video commenting by viewers of media content on a web site. The media content may be video, audio, text, still images or other types of media content. When a content viewer indicates a desire to provide a real-time video comment, a content server causes a video input device at the content viewer's location to be activated. The content viewer's video comment is captured by the video input device and transmitted to the content server, where it is stored and associated with the video being commented upon. When the original video is subsequently presented to content viewers, indicia of the video comment such as a thumbnail or description of the comment is also presented, thus inviting content viewers to view the video comment in addition to the original video.

Methods, systems, and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on a computer storage medium, for enabling viewers to participate in a television program. In one aspect, a method includes transmitting a linear television program that includes a request for viewer responses to be submitted using a user device and receiving, through a communication network, an electronic message including a viewer response to the request from a user. Consideration is received from the user, and the consideration is associated with the viewer response. Credits are allocated to the user in response to receiving the viewer response and consideration. A record of the one or more credits is stored in association with an identifier of the user, and in response to a request from the user, credits associated with the identifier of the user are redeemed in exchange for virtual goods or services associated with delivery of content over a network.
