Systems and methods for providing blackout support in video mosaic and television environments are disclosed. In response to receiving a request for a video mosaic page, screen data or application data, which may include blackout information, is received. The blacked out content may be automatically recorded to the user equipment or a network server for later playback after the blackout has expired. In addition, an overlay of options associated with the blacked out asset may be presented. The overlay may include options to substitute the blacked out asset with replacement content, search for similar content, retrieve more information about the blackout, or present summary information, such as a sports ticker, in place of the blacked out cell.

The processor is configured to record usage history for engagement with the apparatus by a first user over a period of time and receive the sensor data from the at least one sensor for actions by the first user over the period of time. The processor determines user preferences for the first user based on the usage history and the sensor data, and determines whether a second user is available for interaction with the first user. The processor then outputs the suggested action, at a predetermined time, to at least one connected display device or audio device.

An example system may include an authentication system configured to receive a request from an application to authenticate the application, and to send an instruction to a content delivery system to provide an application programming interface (API) to the application based on authenticating the application. The content delivery system may be configured to provide the API to the application based on receiving the instruction from the authentication system, to receive a call from the application to the API to display content, and to cause the content to be displayed on a display device based on the call to the API.

Several ways are provided for a viewer of a movie to create a deep tag, that is, a bookmark for a segment of the movie. The deep tag can be associated with descriptive text and sent to an address provided by the viewer, either an e-mail address or an instant messaging address. Additionally, before the deep tag is created, it can be checked whether the content owner of the movie is known. If known, the content owner’s rules, if any, regarding deep tagging are followed. If unknown, a set of registered content owners can be alerted of the presence of new content. When ownership of the new content is established, the already-created deep tags can be updated in accordance with the content owner’s rules, if any, regarding deep tagging.
