IDENTIFICATION OF SERVICES CONTAINING THE SAME OR EQUIVALENT CONTENT
Identification of services that carry the same or equivalent content. A reception apparatus includes circuitry configured receive first service information for a first service included in a first broadcast stream, and receive second service information for a second service included in a second broadcast stream. The first service is associated with a first virtual channel number and the second service is associated with a second virtual channel number. The circuitry is configured to determine whether the first service included in the first broadcast stream contains the same programming content as a service included in another broadcast stream based on the first service information. The first service information includes an identifier included in the second service information when the first service included in the first broadcast stream contains the same programming content as the second service included in the second broadcast stream.
Systems and methods for a gear-based UI to facilitate efficient navigation
Systems and methods for generating a gear-based user interface for display are disclosed. A user equipment device may generate for display a first gear shape, a second gear shape, and a third gear shape. The first gear shape comprises a first plurality of media identifiers, where a first media identifier of the first plurality is selected. The second gear shape comprises a second plurality of media identifiers that are representative of a group indicated by the selected first media identifier, where a second media identifier is selected. The third gear shape comprises a third plurality of options for a media asset indicated by the selected second media identifier. Upon input indicating that the first gear shape is to be rotated, the second gear shape is rotated with the first gear shape based on the rotation of the first gear shape.
Displaying an electronic programming guide for live television
In some embodiments, a method uses a first list of ranked entities to determine a first ordering of entities in slots of an electronic programming guide. Information is outputted to display at least a portion of the first ordering of entities in slots of the electronic programming guide. The method determines when a refresh of the electronic programming guide should be performed. When it is determined that the refresh should be performed, if a second list of ranked entities is available: the method uses the second list of ranked entities to determine a second ordering of entities in slots of an electronic programming guide and outputs information to display at least a portion of the second ordering of entities in slots of the electronic programming guide to update the electronic programming guide for the refresh.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR ALERTING USERS OF THE POSTPONED RECORDING OF PROGRAMS
Systems and methods are provided herein in relation to notifications about alternative viewing opportunities for recording and playback of media programs. In particular, the systems and methods provide users with information related to alternative recorded programming viewing opportunities for programs scheduled for recording by a user.
Systems and methods for providing user interfaces in an intelligent television
An intelligent television can provide various interfaces for navigating processes associated with providing content. The user interfaces include unique visual representations and organizations that allow the user to utilize the intelligent television more easily and more effectively. Particularly, the user interfaces pertain to the display of media content, electronic programming guide information, television content, and other content. Further, the user interfaces provide unique process of transitioning between the content.
Systems and methods for providing social media with an intelligent television
An Intelligent Television provides unique user interfaces and user interface interactions to provide social media. The interfaces and interface are intuitive and allow the user to quickly retrieve and view social media with respect to content displayed on the Intelligent Television. Further, intuitive user interface interactions are provided to allow for the quick and efficient posting of social media from the Intelligent Television to a social media site.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR NAVIGATING INTERNET APPLIANCES USING A MEDIA GUIDANCE APPLICATION
Systems and methods for navigating through activity information using a media guidance application are provided. An Internet appliance is integrated with a plurality of content sources accessible to user equipment. A simultaneous display of a first plurality of media asset listings, corresponding to a first plurality of media assets transmitted by each of the plurality of content sources during a first time interval that includes the present time, and information received from the Internet appliance is generated. In response to a user request to navigate to a second time interval that precedes the present time, a simultaneous display of a second plurality of media asset listings, corresponding to a second plurality of media assets that were transmitted by each of the plurality of content sources during the second time interval, and a timeline that includes indicators representing activity detected by the Internet appliance during the second time interval is generated.
LIBRARY AND RESOURCES FOR THIRD PARTY APPS FOR SMART TV
An application framework includes user interface components and TV resources which facilitate development of intelligent TV applications, including third-party applications. These components and resources are complimented by one or more data services that can generally be run at a services level, to provide access to a variety of data, such as media and program metadata for one or more of local or remote sources. These data services can reside in one and more libraries within the software system components and modules. The various third-party apps are further supported by a third-party application support module, in conjunction with an app center application that supports various different views of the installed apps: a master view, a collection view, and a detail view.
Remote Control Having Hotkeys with Dynamically Assigned Functions
An intelligent television system provides an operating system and an application framework for controlling a user interface to handle user input events from a handheld remote control. The remote control includes color keys that are configured for triggering different functions in different application panels displayed on the television.
