Fast-expiring licenses used to speculatively authorize access to streaming media content
Techniques are disclosed for improving user experience of multimedia streaming over computer networks. More specifically, techniques presented herein reduce (or eliminate) latency in playback start time for streaming digital media content resulting from digital rights management (DRM) authorizations. A streaming media client (e.g., a browser, set-top box, mobile telephone or tablet “app”) may request a “fast-expiring” license for titles the streaming media client predicts a user is likely to begin streaming. A fast-expiring license is a DRM license (and associated decryption key) which is valid for only a very limited time after being used for playback. During the validity period of such a license, the client device requests a “normal” or “regular” license to continue accessing the title after the fast-expiring license expires.
Systems and methods for loading interactive media guide data based on user history
Systems and methods for efficiently loading interactive media guide data based on user history are provided. A plurality of asset descriptions associated with a first media asset is received. A second media asset related to the first media asset is identified. An asset description is selected form the plurality of asset descriptions based on user history of accessing the second media asset. Data for the first media asset is loaded. Data for the first media asset comprises the selected asset description.
Systems and methods for flexibly using trending topics as parameters for recommending media assets that are related to a viewed media asset
Systems and methods are provided herein for flexibly using trending topics as parameters for recommending media assets that are related to a viewed media asset. A media guidance application may determine that a user has viewed a media asset. The media guidance may identify a plurality of attributes corresponding to the viewed media asset and determine that a respective attribute of the plurality of attributes matches a trending topic. The media guidance application may update a set of weightings corresponding to the plurality of attributes by increasing a weighting corresponding to the respective attribute and adjust a recommendation for a media asset different from the viewed media asset based on the updated set of weightings. The media guidance application may generate for display the recommendation of the media asset different from the viewed media asset.
Systems and methods for detecting a reaction by a user to a media asset to which the user previously reacted at an earlier time, and recommending a second media asset to the user consumed during a range of times adjacent to the earlier time
Systems and methods are disclosed herein for detecting a first reaction by a user when consuming a media asset at a first time, where a first magnitude of the first reaction exceeds a first threshold. The systems and methods may determine whether a second reaction by the user occurred when the user consumed the media asset at a second time that is prior to the first time, where a second magnitude of the second reaction exceeds a second threshold, and may recommend the second media asset to the user.
Automated content selection for groups
Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, a system and method for selecting media content for a group of persons located at a venue. The system and method identify a plurality of viewers in a vicinity of a venue that has one or more display devices from location data and extracts a content viewing preference of each viewer from their profile data. The process includes aggregating the content viewing preference of each of the plurality of viewers to generate an aggregated content profile. Based on the aggregated content profile, a list of content is generated. Next, a first group of viewers approaching a viewing range of a display device are sensed by imaging data. Any conflicts between content viewing preferences of the first group of viewers are detected and resolved based on weighting the viewing preferences of the group. Other embodiments are disclosed.
Method and apparatus for synthesizing video
The present disclosure provides a method and an apparatus for synthesizing a video, and a storage medium. The method is implemented as follows. A video to be synthesized is displayed on a video editing interface. In response to a video sharing instruction, a friend recommendation list is acquired and displayed. The friend recommendation list is used for indicating a plurality of sharing objects. A synthesized video is generated based on the video and the target sharing object. A reminding mark for indicating the target sharing object is displayed on a video picture of the synthesized video.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR FACILITATING CONTENT DISCOVERY BASED ON AUGMENTED CONTEXT
Method, systems, and computer-readable media are provided to facilitate content discovery based on augmented context. A first set of images of a graphical display may be acquired and analyzed to identify visual characteristics of an object represented. Attributes of the object may be identified. Specifications may be transmitted to the television receiver and/or a remote data source in order to pull matching information. A user-selectable interface element may be generated for presentation as an option to take an action relating to the object represented. A visual output of the interface element may be output as an overlay on the first set and/or a second set of images displayed by the computing device. A user selection responsive to the outputting of the visual output of the at interface element may be processed. A communication may be transmitted to the television receiver to cause the action responsive to the user selection.
Smart start-up of television
A control method according to one aspect of the technology is for use where a power supply of an apparatus having a first application and a second application is turned off during display of a screen of the second application and remains off, the first application being used to view a program, the second application being different from the first application. The control method includes: in a case where a power button is pressed, turning on the power supply of the apparatus to start simultaneously the second application and to display the screen thereof; and in a case where a channel selection button is pressed, turning on the power supply of the apparatus to start simultaneously the first application and to display an image of the program distributed on a selected channel.
METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR INTERACTIVE TELEVISION GUIDES AND PROGRAM RULES
Developments in interactive programming guides that utilize a confluence of users/viewers from data that may be block chain and/or data collection from IoT and other devices, proximity sensing of viewership, and both machine and guided learning over a large dataset to produce rules for AI selection of content, format, and features presented to currently active or a nearby set of television users/viewers. Blockchain may be implemented separately for accounting, verification, billing, and/or fees/royalty payments owed to content owners/copyright holders. Playback may be initiated by a remote device and played on a same or yet another or a plurality of remote devices.
System and method for recommending media content based on actual viewers
Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, a device, that has a processing system including a processor; and a memory that stores executable instructions that, when executed by the processing system, facilitate performance of operations, where the operations include detecting each individual of an audience viewing media content on user equipment; retrieving a user profile for each individual of the audience resulting in user profiles; creating a group profile from the user profiles; determining, based on the group profile, a recommendation for viewing a candidate media content; and providing the recommendation to the user equipment for the audience. Other embodiments are disclosed.
