One method includes enabling by a processor, a night mode for a seat device of an in-flight entertainment system (IFE) on an aircraft based on a night mode trigger; displaying by the processor, during the night mode, a wake-up user interface on the seat device for a passenger, when a seat device monitor backlight has turned on after the backlight was turned off, or a seat device backlight timer has triggered, where a brightness of the wake-up user interface is lower than a brightness of a default user interface of the seat device; and enabling by the processor a first set of functions of the seat device accessible from the wake-up user interface, the first set of functions being less than a second set of functions accessible from the default user-interface.

According to one aspect, a video bitstream includes metadata with a flag indicative of creative intent for a target display. This metadata may include numerous fields that denote characteristics such as content type, content sub-type, intended white point, whether or not to use the video in Reference Mode, intended sharpness, intended noise reduction, intended MPEG noise reduction, intended Frame Rate Conversion, intended Average Picture Level, and intended color. This metadata is designed to make it effortless for the content creators to tag their content. The metadata can be added to the video content at multiple points, the status of the flag is set to TRUE or FALSE to indicate whether the metadata was added by the content creator or a third party.

The method includes: capturing an input image of a target; determining a plurality of facial features of the target based on the input image; determining an attention angle of the target relative to a reference direction according to the facial features; determining an angle range threshold corresponding to a first display screen relative to the reference direction according to information carrying a distance between the target and the first display screen; determining whether the attention angle matches the angle range threshold; and when the attention angle matches the angle range threshold, determining that an attention direction of the target is directed toward the first display screen and performing a first action, and when the attention angle fails to match the angle range threshold, determining that the attention direction is directed toward a second display screen and performing a second action.
