Digital television network structure and user terminal
This invention discloses a digital TV broadcast system coordinated with a broadband communication network, an information transmission network in which the broadcast system is applied, a digital TV heterogeneous network architecture, and a client terminal used in each of the above network systems. The various broadcast system architectures of the invention adopt the design concept of heterogeneous network which integrates a broadcast network with other networks, for example, a communication network, the Internet and the like, to form a heterogeneous network architecture coordinating various networks. Meanwhile, the usage in bad conditions are taken into account, and a broadcast TV system which enables uplink transmission by using a broadcast link is designed. The terminal of the invention is a terminal applicable in these heterogeneous network architectures, is capable of receiving signals transmitted from various networks, and can enable flexible receiving and access modes with a series of control means. The network system and client terminal of the invention can achieve an optimized allocation of network resources, save spectrum resources, and enable optimized transmission and management of information resources.
Dynamic real-time TV white space awareness
This invention describes a cloud-based architecture that orchestrates the detection and dissemination of highly-dynamic, real-time, and fine-grained TV white space information to improve spectrum information used for White Space Devices (WSDs). Wasted spectrum opportunities were first identified, both temporal and spatial, due to the current approach of white spaces detection. This invention introduces a next generation of geo-location databases capable of tracking the state of the relatively static TV transmitters and the highly dynamic TV receivers. A quantitative evaluation of the potential gain in white space availability for large scale deployments of this novel architecture demonstrated significant improvement in the availability of white spaces.
FILTERING IDENTIFIER FOR AN OFDM SYSTEM
A broadcast TV signal is a DVB-T2 based system. A DVB-T2 transmitter checks OFDM symbols before transmission to determine a level of adjacent channel interference (ACI). If the of level of ACI is too high, i.e., above a threshold value, the OFDM symbols are filtered before transmission. Otherwise, the OFDM symbols are transmitted without filtering. A filtering field is added to an LI pre-signaling table of the broadcast DVB-T2 signal to signal a DVB-T2 receiver when the received OFDM symbols have been filtered.
Method and system for detecting unauthorized use of a set top box using satellite signal identification
A user device and method comprising a satellite signal determination module receiving a satellite signal from a satellite comprising a first satellite signal identifier, a memory storing an expected satellite signal identifier for an authorized location of the user device, a comparison module comparing the first satellite signal identifier to the expected satellite signal identifier to identify the first satellite signal as unexpected when the first satellite signal is not the expected satellite signal and a disable module disabling the user device from processing satellite signals in response to comparing.
BROADCAST MANAGEMENT SERVICES PLATFORM
A system for selectively controlling the distribution of media content to at least one client device over a plurality of distribution channels is provided. The system includes one or more broadcast management processors configured to receive feedback data including a usage metric corresponding to at least one of a characteristic associated with the at least one client device and a characteristic associated with at least one of the plurality of distribution channels. The broadcast management processor is further configured to determine an alternate data rate associated with at least one of the plurality of distribution channels based on the received usage metric, and generate at least one distribution control signal indicative of the alternate data rate.
Method for signaling, method for receiving, signaling device, and receiving device
A system for generating, transmitting, providing and/or receiving signaling.
BROADCASTING SIGNAL TRANSMISSION DEVICE, BROADCASTING SIGNAL RECEPTION DEVICE, BROADCASTING SIGNAL TRANSMISSION METHOD, AND BROADCASTING SIGNAL RECEPTION METHOD
The present invention proposes a method of providing a broadcasting service. The method of providing the broadcasting service through a broadcasting receiver according to the present invention includes: a step of pairing a network interface unit and a companion device; and a step of receiving an electronic service guide (ESG) through a reception unit, wherein the method of providing the broadcasting service may include ESG data related to at least one broadcasting service.
Digital video broadcasting—terrestrial (DVB-T) system and modulation method thereof
The present invention provides a digital video broadcasting-terrestrial (DVB-T) system and modulation method thereof. The system comprises a transmission module and a receiving module. The transmission module modulates a video signal to a DVB-T signal. The receiving module receives the DVB-T signal via a transmission line and demodulates the DVB-T signal to the video signal, and at the same time, monitoring the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) or bit error rate (BER), and quantizes them to a reference data. The receiving module transmits the reference data to the transmission module through the same transmission line. The system can determine a control parameter according to the reference data to set the modulation parameter of the DVB-T signal.
Packetized content stream-enabled headphone system
Novel techniques are described for enabling headphone-driven systems to handle packetized streams of next-generation television (NGTV) content. For example, a headphone system can include an antenna and a NGTV tuner to receive and decode a packetized television content stream wirelessly from a content provider via a digital television content network. The decoded stream can be processed by the headphone system to generate an audio stream and a video stream. Audio content of the audio stream can be output via an audio transducer of the headphone system. The video stream can be transmitted, via a device interface of the headphone system, to a media playback device for outputting of video content (e.g., and audio content, in some cases) of the video stream. For example, the video stream is transmitted, via a short-range wireless network to a smartphone, tablet computer, transport vehicle display, or other playback device.
METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR DETECTING UNAUTHORIZED USE OF A SET TOP BOX USING SATELLITE SIGNAL IDENTIFICATION
A system and method for determining unauthorized use of a set top box includes a satellite signal determination module in the set top box receives a satellite signal from a satellite comprising a first satellite signal identifier. A memory in the set top box stores a second satellite signal identifier for a location of the user device. The user device also includes a comparison module comparing the first satellite signal identifier to the second satellite signal identifier and a disable module disabling the user device from processing satellite signals in response to comparing.
