Automated lifecycle management with flexible scaling and dynamic resource allocation for virtualized cable data plane applications
Systems and methods to support flexible scaling and dynamic resource allocation for virtualized cable data plane applications. The system includes a head end together with a node to provide data to customer devices. A container operating that includes a data plane application that provides packets of data for transmission to the node. The data plane application is instantiated with at least one of a virtual networking function and a computing resource function.
DOWNSTREAM PLANT CAPACITY
A transmitting and/or receiving system for cable networks.
Media channel identification and action with multi-match detection and disambiguation based on matching with differential reference-fingerprint feature
A computing system compares various reference fingerprints each representing a reference media stream broadcast on a different respective known channel, and the computing system determines that a plurality of the reference fingerprints match each other, thus defining a multi-match group of the matching reference fingerprints. In response, the computing system identifies a fingerprint feature that could define a distinction between the reference fingerprints, and the computing system resolves the multi-match based on the identified feature, thereby determining the channel carrying the media stream being rendered by the media presentation device. And the computing system could then take channel-specific action based on the determined channel.
Leakage detection for cable TV systems with upstream signals above 118 MHz
A method of using customer premise cable modem equipment to generate a signal that can be used for leakage detection. Various signal types are described which are usable for the purposes of leakage detection.
Entry adapter for a cable television network
An entry adapter configured to communicate cable television (CATV) signals from a CATV network to one or more network devices and to communicate Multi-Media over Coaxial Alliance (MoCA) signals with a MoCA server, the entry adapter including one or more MoCA ports, and a signal combination device configured to direct the CATV signals toward one or more access ports without substantial attenuation, to substantially attenuate the CATV signals directed toward the one or more MoCA ports, to pass the MoCA signals from the one or more MoCA ports to the one or more access ports, and to pass the MoCA signals from the one or more access ports to the one or more MoCA ports.
DATA PROCESSING FOR NETWORKING SYSTEMS
A method of processing diagnostic data including receiving a template file and a diagnostic file. Processing the diagnostic data based upon the template file where array and non-array portions of the data are treated differently.
ARRANGEMENT FOR ALIGNING UPSTREAM PATH
A network element of a cable television network includes at least a first and a second upstream amplifier stage, a first attenuator and a first equalizer between the first and the second amplifier stage, and a second attenuator after the second upstream amplifier stage in upstream signal path direction. A target value is determined for total attenuation of the components of the amplifier. The total attenuation is a sum of attenuations of the first attenuator, the first equalizer, and the second attenuator. The attenuation of the first equalizer is preset. The attenuation of the first attenuator is set to a maximum value such the sum of the attenuations of the first attenuator and the first equalizer is below a first threshold value. The attenuation of the second attenuator is set such that the total attenuation reaches the target value.
Systems and methods for signaling host devices via a broadcast channel with grouping filters
Embodiments include a system, method, and a computer program product for broadcasting a universal message to a plurality subscriber devices. Embodiments include generating a universal message comprising information identifying one or more target subscriber devices from among the plurality of subscriber devices to execute an update or an event, broadcasting the universal message to each subscriber device of the plurality of subscriber devices, receiving a request, from the one or more target subscriber devices, to transmit a payload when the universal message comprises instructions to execute the update, and transmitting the payload to the one or more target subscriber devices.
Voice command integration for local network connected devices
Various arrangements for facilitating smart television content receivers in a local network are provided. A primary television receiver executing a first operating system can receive audio data including human voice from a voice enabled remote control. The primary television receiver can transmit the audio data to a secondary television receiver executing a second operating system and that includes a voice command component. The secondary television receiver can convert the audio data into voice command data and transmit the voice command data to the primary television receiver. The primary television receiver can transmit the voice command data to a voice processing server via the Internet and receive, in response, a command generated based on the voice command data. The primary television receiver can transmit the command to the secondary television receiver. The voice command component can then control an operation of the secondary television receiver based on the command.
Internet protocol (IP) to video-on-demand (VOD) gateway
A media server is hosted in a service provider's network so that media content can be stored from or rendered to a private network such as a Digital Living Network Alliance network. Media content may be stored by accessing the media server or by downloading the media content to the media server. Support of set top boxes interacting with voice-on-demand (VOD) controllers and computers interacting with IP-based video content servers are integrated through the media server. Consequently, VOD assets can be played on IP-based devices and IP-based content can be played on set top boxes. A gateway function converts IP-based content to a VOD asset, and renders the VOD asset to a set top box while mapping digital rights management information for the VOD asset. Conversely, the gateway function may convert a VOD asset to IP-based content that can be played on an IP-based device.
