System and method for metamorphic content generation
A system that incorporates teachings of the present disclosure may include, for example, a device having a controller programmed to detect an object within a first portion of a first occurrence of a repetitive portion of a media program. The object is modified, resulting in an updated object, and another portion of the first occurrence of the repetitive portion is left unmodified. The object is detected within a first portion of a subsequent instance of the repetitive portion of the media program and modified differently from the first, while maintaining other portions of the subsequent instance of the repetitive portion unmodified. Other embodiments are disclosed.
Allocating streaming content on a hybrid network
Allocating streaming content on a hybrid network can include searching for streaming content broadcast via broadcast signals over a broadcast network as a communications device is receiving the streaming content via a cellular network. Responsive to identifying, based on the searching, a within-range broadcast source broadcasting the streaming content via broadcast signals, the communications device can begin receiving the streaming content via the broadcast signals over the broadcast network and cease receiving the streaming content via the cellular network.
Dual-mode communication devices and methods
Methods, systems, and techniques for dual-mode communication are provided. Example embodiments provide an enhanced mobile device that includes a low latency transceiver and a high latency transceiver. In some cases, the enhanced mobile device is operated by a customer and configured to interact with a point of service computing system via both the low and high latency transceivers to facilitate a customer interaction at a point of service location. For example, the enhanced mobile device may transmit via its high latency transceiver an indication that it is en route to the point of service location. Upon arrival at the point of service location, the enhanced mobile device may transmit via its low latency transceiver an indication that the customer has arrived at the point of service location. The point of service computing system may then provide a service based on the information received from the enhanced mobile device.
Device and process for remote management of a network of audiovisual information reproductions systems
Management device for a network of audiovisual information reproduction systems or jukeboxes, including a database with a plurality of sets of arrays, each array containing grouped information either about the composition of a jukebox, or the use of the jukebox, or the payment of fees. The database is managed by a computer server connected with the audiovisual information reproduction systems to receive messages sent by each audiovisual information reproduction device and containing information necessary to update determined sets of arrays in the database, and update data or the program for each audiovisual information reproduction device with information stored in at least one set of arrays in the database and transmitted in this message.
System and Method for Set-Top Box Base Station Integration
A system for conducting a voice call includes a set-top box operable to control the selection of a television channel for display on a television. The set-top box is also operable to initiate a voice call in response to a selection of a user-interface displayed on the television. The system also includes a wireless set in communication with the set-top box, the wireless set operable to establish a portion of the voice path for the voice call. Signaling for the voice call is initiated by the set-top box.
DUAL-MODE EYEGLASSES
Methods, systems, and techniques for dual-mode communication are provided. Example embodiments provide a an enhanced mobile device that includes a CPU, a low latency transceiver, and a high latency transceiver. The enhanced mobile device is in communication with a console via both the low latency transceiver and the high latency transceiver. The console also includes a CPU, a low latency transceiver, and a high latency transceiver. In some embodiments, the low latency communication channel is used to transmit control messages to an entertainment console whereas the high latency communication channel is used to communicate data between the mobile device and the entertainment console. The dual-mode communication may be used in different scenarios, including entertainment applications, such as with dual-mode eyeglasses.

Method and System for Delivery of Content Over An Electronic Book Channel
Computer-implemented systems and methods of providing content to a user via communications between a content provider and a user over a plurality of disparate communication channels are provided. Content is provided to a user via a first transmission channel for presentation. Metadata associated with the content identifies a content event trigger at a point in the content. The content is displayed using a first presentation system. When the content event trigger is reached, supplemental content is provided to the user via a second transmission channel. The supplemental content is provided to the user during continued presentation of the content, and the supplemental content is provided to the user using a content providing system that is wholly separate from the first presentation system.
System and method of enhanced caller-ID display using a personal address book
A method includes receiving, at a multifunction unit configured to provide television programming to a media device for display to a display device, a call signal including a caller identifier. The call identifier includes a calling number and a first name associated with the calling number. The method includes retrieving, via the multifunction unit, a second name associated with the calling number from a personal address book. The method also includes sending a modified caller identifier including the calling number and the second name from the multifunction unit to the media device for display.
