SYSTEM AND METHOD OF PROVIDING POST-PURCHASE MEDIA CONTENT TO A SUBSCRIBER

A method includes receiving, by a computing device of a media service provider, a search request associated with a first product. The search request is received from a media device associated with a subscriber of a service provided by the media service provider. The method includes, in response to the search request, determining, by the computing device, a responsible party associated with the first product based on a purchase date of the first product and a return period for the first product. The method also includes sending, from the computing device to the media device, contact information of the responsible party. The contact information is to be displayed by the media device to a display device with an option to contact the responsible party.

SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR DYNAMIC OPTIMIZATION OF CONTENT DELIVERY IN A WIRELESS COMMUNICATION NETWORK

A system and method for dynamically optimizing content delivery in a wireless communication network. The method comprises receiving, at a transceiver [208A], a request for delivery of a content from at least one user device [202]. A manifest module [208B] determines one or more first parameters for the at least one user device [202] and compares one or more parameters of the at least one user device [202] with one or more second parameters of the at least one cohort. The manifest module [208B] dynamically identifies (or generates) a virtual manifest associated with the at least one cohort (or the at least one user device [202]) based on the comparison. A segmenter module [208C] automatically extracts a stream of data associated with the virtual manifest. The transceiver [208A] delivers the content to the at least one user device [202] based on the extracted stream of data.

Signaling Which Version Information To Use On Byte-Range File Repair

Systems, methods, and devices of various embodiments enable signaling one or more capabilities of servers, such as web servers or content delivery network (CDN) servers, to use file version information, such as MD5s (message digest 5 (MD5) algorithm hash values) and/or entity tags (ETags), to computing devices for byte-range file repair.

System and method for processing programing data using multiple technologies

Various embodiments of a system includes receiving a request to display a content and employing an antenna system to receive content data that is representative of the content. The antenna system includes a first antenna, a second antenna, and a third antenna. The system further utilizing at least three arrangements to collect the content, wherein a first arrangement includes receiving the content data broadcasted over the air to extract the content from the content data, a second arrangement includes establishing a wireless communication connection with a network node device operated by a first telecommunication service provider to collect the content data from a server, and a third arrangement includes connecting to a hot-spot having a connection to a second network node device operated by a second telecommunication service provider to collect the content data from the server. The system further transfers the content to the display component, which is collected utilizing the three arrangements.

METHODS AND APPARATUS FOR IMPLEMENTING DYNAMIC PROGRAM GUIDES ON MOBILE DEVICES

Mechanisms are provided for allowing a mobile device to dynamically obtain program guide data. A mobile device having the capability of playing media streams is configurable to dynamically request program guide structure information followed by program guide content information. In one example, the program guide structure information allows a user to begin navigating the program guide data in an active and dynamic manner. Program guide content information including data such as program titles, times, icons, and links are then downloaded and displayed as needed. Potentially limitless amounts of program guide data can be provided on a mobile device. Program guide content information can be provided in a generic manner while allowing user layout customization. Program guide information can also be preemptively provided to a mobile device based on a variety of criteria.

CLOSED CAPTIONING MANAGEMENT SYSTEM

Media content typically includes closed captioning information such as subtitled in domestic and foreign languages. Techniques and mechanisms provide that closed captioning information may be toggled on/off using menu options and preferences as well as automatically managed by intelligently monitoring the environment surrounding a device. Device sensors such as microphones and vibration monitors determine the noise level of an environment as well as the spectral characteristics of the noise to determine whether the noise profile would interfere with the video playback experience. A particular environmental noise profile could automatically trigger the display of closed captioning information or present an easy access, otherwise unavailable toggle to display closed captioning information associated with a video stream.

Controlling content distribution

A computer-implemented method for controlling content distribution includes forwarding information associated with a user to a device operated by the user, the information being configured for use in selecting content from any of multiple content providers for a content distribution to the user. The method includes receiving, in response to the information, an edit of the information forwarded from the device. The edit identifies a first content provider and including a first modification of the content distribution regarding the first content provider. The method includes storing the edit in association with the information such that the first modification is taken into account in the content distribution. The method can be implemented using a computer program product tangibly embodied in a computer-readable storage medium.

VIDEO COMPLEXITY DETECTION FOR NETWORK TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT

Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, a method in which a processing system obtains encoded video content, and transmits the encoded video content over a network for presentation at a communication device by a video player executing on the communication device. The encoded video content is decoded in a decoding process by a decoder of an operating system of the communication device to generate decoded video content; the decoded video content is analyzed by a complexity analyzer of the operating system to generate a video complexity report. The method also includes receiving the video complexity report over the network from the communication device, and adjusting a data rate for the encoded video content, based at least in part on the video complexity report, to generate adjusted video content for transmission to the communication device. Other embodiments are disclosed.

SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR TRASMITTING WARNING SIGNAL BASED ON EMERGENCY ALERT SYSTEM SIGNAL
20170303007 · 2017-10-19 ·

A device is provided for use with a wireless communication device and with a video display. The device includes a receiver, an image decoder, an emergency alert system (EAS) decoder, an output port, a memory, a warning generator and a transmitter. The receiver receives input data including image data and EAS data. The image decoder decodes the image data into image display data. The EAS decoder decodes the emergency alert system data into emergency alert data. The output port outputs the image display data to the video display to display a video image. The memory stores contact information associated with the wireless communication device. The warning generator generates a warning signal based on the emergency alert data. The transmitter transmits a warning transmission to the wireless communication device over a cellular network, wherein the warning transmission is based on the warning signal and the contact information.

Broadcast response system

A broadcast response system provides, e.g., a radio broadcast listener with the ability to obtain media content such as music or speech while listening to the radio. The user can respond to items in the radio broadcast such as advertisements, fund raising drives, or interactive listener polls during the broadcast. Data such as song title and artist, author or publisher and the IP address for the location where the digital version of the content is stored, can be transmitted using, e.g., the RBDS/RDS data stream. A reference number representing song title and artist, author or publisher and the IP address for the location where the digital version of the content is stored can also be employed for ease of implementation. This reference number can reside in a lookup table to be accessed by broadcast response server.
