During an original advertisement selection process at a network infrastructure, original-selection advertisements are selected for play back with a streaming format video on a viewer device. After the original advertisement selection process, the streaming format video is presented on the viewer device together with advertisements that are provided by a helper process and can include the original-selection advertisements or other advertisements or both.

System and methods are described for generating one or more viewable highlight playbacks, such as, for example, a viewable highlight playback including highlights of a sporting event that may be viewed essentially on demand. The system and methods transform raw digital media data associated with the event to a playback instruction signal including key highlights of the event to be viewed over a predetermined time period while capturing an essence of the event. The system and methods allow control of a viewing of the viewable highlight playback utilizing, at least in part, the playback instruction signal.

The method includes composing a message type field containing information indicating on a type of control information contained in the control message, composing a length field containing information on the length of the control message, composing optional fields having different values according to the type of the control information, and composing a payload field containing content of the control information.

When the system detects that a previously untagged data resource of the plurality of data resources becomes tagged by the user as data is streaming to and from the client device, the system changes a set of UI elements included within the user-customized UI to add an additional UI element for the newly tagged data resource. Corresponding methods and systems are also disclosed.

A media presentation and distribution system includes a verification server that handles dynamic verification of playback of media assets on a client device. The client device generates support information for a media asset based on an associated asset identifier that is detected during a playback of the media asset on a client device. The client device further encrypts the support information for the media asset based on a client private key associated with the client device and an asset public key for the media asset. The playback of the media asset on the client device is verified based on a verification message, the support information, an encrypted verification message, and the associated asset identifier. A defined asset delivery criteria is satisfied and a deviation or an error with the playback of the media asset is identified based on the verification of the playback of the media asset.

A media presentation and distribution system includes a verification server that handles dynamic verification of playback of media assets on a client device. The client device generates support information for a media asset based on an associated asset identifier that is detected during a playback of the media asset on a client device. The client device further encrypts the support information for the media asset based on a client private key associated with the client device and an asset public key for the media asset. The playback of the media asset on the client device is verified based on a verification message, the support information, an encrypted verification message, and the associated asset identifier. A defined asset delivery criteria is satisfied and a deviation or an error with the playback of the media asset is identified based on the verification of the playback of the media asset.

One embodiment of the present invention is a method for broadcasting information to one or more client devices from a broadcaster that is not a client device, which one or more client devices utilize presentation rates to present audio in broadcast information at various presentation rates using time-scale modification, and which method includes: (a) the broadcaster broadcasting non-time-scale modified information; and (b) the broadcaster broadcasting guidance information used to determine presentation rates for use by the one or more client devices in presentation of audio in the broadcast information using time-scale modification; wherein the guidance information is broadcast prior to or after a time of broadcast of the broadcast information.
