METHODS, SYSTEMS, AND MEDIA FOR RECOMMENDING CONTENT BASED ON NETWORK CONDITIONS
Methods, systems, and media for recommending content based on network conditions are provided. In some embodiments, the method comprises: receiving, from a first user device, a request to present media content recommendations on the first user device; in response to receiving the request, determining information indicating a user context associated with the first user device and network connectivity information associated with a connection status of the first user device over a communications network; identifying a group of media content items to recommend based on the user context and the network connectivity information; and causing recommendations for the group of media content items to be presented on the first user device.
MANAGING BUFFERS FOR RATE PACING
A method, decoder and server for managing buffers for rate pacing. The decoder includes a memory, a transceiver configured to transmit and receive a signal, and processing circuitry operably connected to the memory and the transceiver. The processing circuitry receives, from the server, a removal rate message indicating a drain rate of a pacing buffer of the decoder. The processing circuitry also provides packets from the pacing buffer to a decoding buffer of the decoder according to the drain rate.
Dynamic quality adjustment based on changing streaming constraints
A method and apparatus for dynamic quality adjustment of digital media based on changing streaming constraints is provided. A digital media server sends a digital media stream according to a set of streaming constraints to a requesting client. Audio and visual information may be sent to a requesting client together in a single stream, or separately in multiple streams. A client sends a request over a control network to the digital media server indicating information of a particular type is no longer desired. In response to receiving the signal, the video server ceases transmission of that particular type of information to the signaling client, thus relaxing streaming constraints. As a result of the techniques described herein, an improved quality digital presentation is available for the client and, consequently, when a viewer signals that a particular type of information is not desired, that particular type of information is not transmitted to the client, which thereby reduces the streaming constraints on a video streaming service, and improved quality digital media information may be sent to any client using the freed-up portion of the bandwidth previously allocated to the signaling client.

SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR PROVIDING SONG SAMPLES
A first electronic device, while a first media content item of a first type is playing back on a second electronic device, detects a user input selecting a second media content item. In response to the user input, the electronic device determines a type of media content item of the selected second media content item. In accordance with a determination that the second media content item is of the first type of media content item, the first electronic device generates a media control request for controlling playback of the second media content item at the second electronic device, and in accordance with a determination that the second media content item is of a second type of media content item, the first electronic device generates a media control request for controlling playback of the second media content item at a third electronic device that is distinct from the second electronic device.
Generic indication of adaptation paths for scalable multimedia
A file format structure for use with scalable video coding systems and methods, where a rate share operation box indicates which adaptation operation points for coded media are available in a file. The rate share operation box can include a characterization of the adaptation result for each adaptation operation point. In addition, the rate share operation box can include an identifier that indicates which algorithm was used in generating each adaptation operation point.
