Method and system for media adaption

A method includes receiving a media request for a target device. The signaling information may be received from the target device and a media server. At least one attribute of the target device and the media server may be identified using the signaling information. At least one attribute of the target device and the media server may be evaluated against a service level objective to select a media format. The service level objective may include consideration of the target device and available bandwidth over a provider network. The media may be provided in the selected media format over the provider network to the target device.

A device capability negotiation method includes receiving, by a first device, a multilayer video data request sent by a second device, and sending, by the first device, response information to the second device. The response information includes at least one of the following information types: decoding capability information needed for decoding a multilayer video code stream, decoding capability information needed for decoding various layers in the multilayer video code stream, and decoding capability information needed for decoding different output layer combinations in the multilayer video code stream. Also disclosed are a device capability negotiation apparatus, and a computer storage medium.

METHOD AND DEVICE FOR ADAPTING THE DISPLAY OF A VIDEO STREAM BY A CLIENT
20170223409 · 2017-08-03 ·

A method for adapting the display of a video stream by a client includes a modification of a video tag of the client. The modified video tag is a function of a resolution of equipment supplying the video stream, of a size of a display window for the video stream, and of an accuracy parameter. The modified video tag has the same relation as the resolution to the size of the display window in which the video stream is displayed by the client

Method and apparatus for wideband distribution of content

A method and apparatus to create and transmit transport multiplexes comprising one or more levels of service over a network. In one embodiment, the level of service comprises high definition (HD) content or programs, and the transmitted multiplexes are distributed over a plurality of downstream RF carriers in a cable network simultaneously. A head-end architecture for performing the multiplexing and distribution of multiple HD programs over the multiple carriers (i.e., in a “wideband” configuration) is disclosed. CPE having one or more wideband tuners is also disclosed, the CPE being adapted to receive the multiplexed HD content from the various RF carriers, and demultiplex it in order to permit decoding and subsequent viewing by the user. The use of multiple HD source programs with the multiplex advantageously provides for enhanced statistical multiplexing by providing a larger “pool” of constituent inputs and available carriers.

System and method for compressing video based on latency measurements and other feedback

A system and method of playing a video game in a streaming mode includes executing a selected video game on an assigned game server, receiving execution control signals corresponding to user inputs to a client device to generate multiple video frames. Encoding the video frames in a shared hardware compression. Some of the encoded video frames depend on a preceding frame. A first and a second encoded video frame are transmitted to the client device. A first feedback signal from a decoder in the client device identifies that the second encoded video frame was not received the decoder. A third encoded video frame dependency is adjusted to produce an adjusted third encoded video frame that depends from the first encoded video frame and the adjusted third encoded video frame is transmitted to the client device.
