Multicast-based content transmitting system and method, and device and method for estimating high-speed movement
The present invention relates to a multicast-based content transmitting system and method, and a device and method for estimating high-speed movement. Included are: a content providing device for generating N×M multicast stream channels having different transmission start times and transmission rates, providing N×M multicast stream channel lists, and transmitting content through one channel of N×M multicast stream channels; and a user terminal for selecting one channel of the N×M multicast stream channel lists provided from the content providing device and receiving content through the selected multicast stream channel.
Combined broadcast and unicast delivery
Described herein are techniques for facilitating combined broadcast and unicast delivery of content. According to various embodiments, a media stream from a content provider may be received at a unicast server and at a broadcast server. The media stream may comprise a plurality of media stream fragments. A relative delay may be introduced into the media stream at the broadcast server such that media stream fragments transmitted from the broadcast server are delayed relative to media stream fragments transmitted from the unicast server. The media stream fragments may be transmitted to a user device. The user device may be operable to switch between receiving the media stream fragments from the unicast server and the broadcast server.

Video Assets Having Associated Graphical Descriptor Data
Graphical descriptor data associated with a particular video asset may include data for one or more graphical descriptor images and graphical descriptor metadata related to each graphical descriptor image. The graphical descriptor images can be simultaneously presented on a display screen with the video asset content and used to navigate to different content in that video asset. The graphical descriptors can also be used to navigate to content of one or more different assets.

Low latency active noise cancellation system with client intercommunication
A system and method for providing load balanced secure media content and data delivery (10) in a distributed computing environment is disclosed. Media content is segmented and encrypted into a set of individual encrypted segments on a centralized control center (15). Each individual encrypted segment has the same fixed size. The complete set of individual encrypted segments is staged to a plurality of intermediate control nodes (17, 19). Individual encrypted segments are mirrored from the staged complete set to a plurality of intermediate servers (21a-b, 23a-b). Requests are received from clients (11) for the media content at the centralized control center. Each individual encrypted segment in the set is received from one of an intermediate control node and an intermediate server optimally sited from the requesting client. The individual encrypted segments are reassembled into the media content for media playback.

Method and access device for implementing IP broadband video service
Embodiments of the present invention disclose a method and an access device for implementing an IP broadband video service, the method is executed by an access device, comprising: receiving by an access device located between a user terminal and a router, a request for demanding a program from the user terminal; determining by the access device that the user terminal has a watching or previewing right for the program; sending by the access device a multicast stream of the program to the user terminal; generating by the access device a billing record comprising the program on demand and information indicating a view duration of the program; and sending by the access device, the billing recording to a video service support system for billing purpose.

Telepresence via wireless streaming multicast
A method is disclosed which provides for multicasting video of an event, thereby allowing geographically dispersed members of a user's social network to experience a user's current locale, so that the user's friends may join him via live video at events (concerts, clubs, or other venues) which they cannot attend in person. The method includes the steps of enabling transmission of an invitation to at least one selected individual; processing an acceptance of the invitation; processing a live video signal of the event; storing the signal in a streaming database; and outputting a video stream in accordance with the acceptance. The outputting may be performed in real time. The processing of the live video signal may also include caching the video signal, so that the event may be viewed other than in real time.
