System and process for synchronized media play
Embodiments include processes for media object rendering, including the steps of providing a plurality of clients, the clients including a media client and the clients in communication with a synchronization client, the clients defining a synchronization group. The media clients include instructions for receiving media object content over a network from a content server, rendering the media object content, and random access to the media object content in response to synchronization client seek time instructions. The synchronization client includes instructions to calculate a relative lag and provide seek time instructions to the media clients for a media object being rendered, the relative lag being a running measurement of its offset relative to the synchronization server's clock. The synchronization client periodically queries the clock of a synchronization server. The synchronization server responds to the synchronization client queries with internal clock value as a timestamp and a timestamp for a target time reference within said media object content for the synchronization group, whereby the synchronization client provides seek time to its paired media clients for the media client to move to that offset, establishing and maintaining playback synchronization among the synchronization group.

Mobile device attention detection
Methods, apparatus, systems and articles of manufacture are disclosed for mobile device attention detection. An example apparatus includes a mobile meter to receive, from an external device, a signal to gather user attention data, and transmit the user attention data. The example apparatus further includes an interval timer to activate a time period for determining attention of a user. The example apparatus further includes an attention determiner to generate the user attention data during the time period.
Responding to emergency-alert audio tone by abandoning dynamic content modification
A method and system for controlling dynamic content modification such as dynamic advertisement insertion. An example method includes detecting presence of an emergency-alert audio tone in a media stream accessible to a media client, and responsively causing the media client to abandon a dynamic content modification, such as to forgo a planned dynamic content modification or to discontinue an in-progress dynamic content modification. This method could occur while the media client is processing a given media stream for presentation, and the method could include detecting presence of the emergency-alert audio tone in the given media stream or alternatively in another media stream accessible to the media client. And in the latter case, the method could further involve causing the media client to switch from processing the given media stream for presentation to instead processing the other media stream for presentation, which could facilitate presenting of an associated emergency alert.
Establishment and use of time mapping based on interpolation using low-rate fingerprinting, to help facilitate frame-accurate content revision
A computing system identifies multiple matching points between (i) query fingerprints representing a media stream being received by a client and (ii) reference fingerprints, each identified matching point defining a respective match between a query fingerprint timestamped with client time defined according to a clock of the client and a reference fingerprint timestamped with true time defined according to a timeline within a known media stream. Further, the computing system performs linear regression based on the timestamps of the matching points, to establish a mapping between true time and client time. The computing system then uses the mapping to determine a client-time point at which the client should perform a content revision or other action with respect to the media stream being received by the client. And the computing system causes the client to perform the content revision or other action at the determined client-time point.
AUTOMATED REPLACEMENT OF VIDEO PROGRAM CONTENT
Advertisements in broadcast television programming are digitally replaced with different ads prior to viewing. Replacement can occur in time and/or place shifted content, and can be used to promote a particular advertisement that the viewer has not yet seen, thereby improving the reach of the ad without oversaturation. Data reporting by the playback devices is collected in a database of viewed ads. The information in the database can be used to refresh previously-viewed ads, to increase saturation of particular ads, to replace previously-broadcast but no longer relevant ads, or for other purposes as desired.
METHODS AND APPARATUS TO PERFORM MEDIA DEVICE ASSET QUALIFICATION
Methods, apparatus, systems and articles of manufacture to perform media device asset qualification are disclosed. An example apparatus includes at least one memory, and at least one processor to execute instructions to at least identify a first set of candidate media device assets for disqualification, the candidate media device assets including A) a signature and B) a media identifier that identifies media, generate a hash table using a second set of the candidate media device assets, determine one or more counts of matches between C) a first signature and a first media identifier of a first candidate media device asset of the second set and D) respective signatures and media identifiers of multiple ones of the second set using the hash table, the multiple ones of the second set not including the first candidate media device asset, and load the first signature into a reference database as a reference signature.

TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT ARCHITECTURE
A cable distribution system includes a head end connected to a plurality of customer devices through a transmission network that provides data suitable for the plurality of customer devices. A traffic monitoring system receives from a customer support device a first data request for a parameter of one of the plurality of customer devices. The traffic monitoring system provides a second data request for the parameter of the one of said plurality of customer devices to a customer premise equipment management system in response to receiving the first data request. The traffic monitoring system receiving a first data response including the parameter from the customer premise equipment management system in response to providing the second data request to the customer premise equipment management system. The traffic monitoring system providing a second data response including the parameter from the traffic management system to the customer support device in response to receiving the first data response.
Methods and systems for implementing a locked mode for viewing media assets
Methods and systems that provide an interactive media guidance application having a locked mode for viewing media assets. In the locked mode, the interactive media guidance application may provide media assets suited to a certain audience. The interactive media guidance application may determine suitable media assets for the locked mode based on media assets viewed by other users having characteristics similar to the user of the interactive media guidance application. In the locked mode, the interactive media guidance application may allow access to only certain media assets and/or limit the time period for which the media assets are presented.
