Room Association Based on Name

Systems and methods for use in a media playback system comprising one or more playback devices are disclosed, where a playback device has a corresponding first set of device attributes used by a first controller application. The methods include: (i) identifying a second set of device attributes used by a second controller application to control the playback device, (ii) selecting a second device attribute for the playback device from the second set of device attributes based at least in part on a first device attribute; (iii) storing the selected second device attribute in the first set of device attributes; and (iv) controlling at least one function of the playback device using the selected second device attribute.

METHODS AND SYSTEMS FOR INTERACTIVE QUEUING FOR SHARED LISTENING SESSIONS
20230130141 · 2023-04-27 ·

An electronic device generates a respective user queue for each user of a plurality of users participating in a shared listening session. While providing a first media content item for playback, the device receives a second request, from a first user, to add a second media content item to the shared playback queue and updates the respective user queue for the first user. After receiving the second request, the electronic device receives a third request, from a second user, to add a third media content item to the shared playback queue and updates the respective user queue for the second user. The electronic device updates the shared playback queue using the respective user queues of the first user and the second user, including positioning the third media content item in an order of the shared playback queue to be played back before the second media content item.

SYNCHRONIZED PLAYBACK OF MEDIA CONTENT

The subject technology provides for synchronized playback of different media content streams. The disclosed techniques may include determining, while certain audio content is being outputted, whether a triggering event has occurred at a media device. Responsive to a determination that the triggering event has occurred, audio information including identification information and a current output status of the audio content may be obtained, and a visual content stream for visual content corresponding to the audio content may be obtained. At the media device, the visual content stream may be processed based on the audio information to determine a starting time point indicating a time point within the visual content from which to start outputting the visual content. The visual content may be outputted such that the output of the visual content begins at the starting time point and is synchronized in time with the audio content.

A system and method for providing digital audio services is described. One embodiment is a method for proving digital audio services, comprising receiving, using a communications interface, an audio stream from a content provider; determining a timestamp for a first audio stream segment; determining a timestamp for a second audio stream segment; updating a playlist with a representation of the audio stream; receiving a query for content information; and sending offer information, in response to receiving the query for content information.

DIGITAL JUKEBOX DEVICE WITH IMPROVED USER INTERFACES, AND ASSOCIATED METHODS

Certain exemplary embodiments relate to entertainment systems and, more particularly, to systems that incorporate digital downloading jukebox features and improved user interfaces. For instance, a smart search may be provided, e.g., where search results vary based on the popularity of songs within the venue, in dependence on songs being promoted, etc. As another example, a tile-based approach to organizing groupings of songs is provided. Groupings may involve self-populating collections of songs that combine centrally-promoted songs, songs in a given genre that are popular across an audiovisual distribution network, and songs that are locally popular and match up with the given genre (e.g., because of shared attributes such as same or similar genre, artist, etc.). Different tile visual presentations also are contemplated, as are different physical jukebox designs. In certain example embodiments, a sealed core unit with the “brains” of the jukebox is insertable into a docking station.

It is possible to enable a reception side to easily recognize that metadata is inserted into an audio stream. A metafile including meta information for acquiring an audio stream into which metadata is inserted through a reception device is transmitted. The identification information indicating that the metadata is in into the audio stream is inserted into the metafile. At the reception side, it is possible to easily recognize that the metadata is inserted into the audio stream based on the identification information inserted into the metafile.

USER INTERFACES FOR PLAYING AND MANAGING AUDIO ITEMS

The present disclosure generally relates to playing and managing audio items. In some examples, an electronic device provides intuitive user interfaces for playing and managing audio items on the device. In some examples, an electronic device provides seamless transitioning from navigating a stack of items corresponding to groups of audio items to navigating a list of menus. In some examples, an electronic device provides for quick and easy access between different applications that are active on the device. In some examples, an electronic device enables automatic transmission of data associated with audio items to be stored locally on a linked external device.

REAL-TIME SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR SILENT PARTY HOSTING AND STREAMING

The system and techniques disclose as a software platform, including computer software applications (apps) and a backend system that can be used to provide hosting and streaming of a silent party. The system allows a host to set up a silent party, specifically selecting the music that is played during the silent party and designating virtual “rooms” where different genres of music can be played simultaneously. Further, the system streams real-time content, including music, for the silent party simultaneously to different silent party attendees at various remote locations. The silent party attendees access the real-time stream, using their respective computer devices and headphones, so that the music can still be enjoyed “silently”. Accordingly, the system allows for a unique and exciting “virtual” silent party experience that can be enjoyed by users anywhere in real-time, as if they were all physically together in the same room of a conventional silent party.

Video switching during music playback

Provided is a method for playing music, applicable to a terminal provided with a music player, including: playing first music by the music player and playing a video in a music playback page, wherein the first music corresponds to at least two videos; receiving a video switching operation in the music playback page, wherein the video switching operation includes at least one of a swipe operation, a tap operation, a long press operation, and a press operation; and switching the video being played in the music playback page in response to the video switching operation, and continuing playing the first music by the music player.

Method and apparatus for media property or characteristic control in a media system

A method including: transmitting, by a control device, a first portion of content comprising a first portion of a signal corresponding to a multimedia presentation characteristic of a peripheral device; receiving, when an adjustment of the signal is below an adjustment threshold, a first instance of an input indicating a request to change the multimedia presentation characteristic; in response to receiving the first instance of the input, adjusting a second portion of the signal and transmitting a second portion of the content comprising the adjusted second portion of the signal; receiving, when the adjustment of the signal is at or above the adjustment threshold, a second instance of the input; and transmitting, in response to receiving the second instance of the input, a communication signal to the peripheral device to adjust a peripheral device control of an output of the multimedia presentation characteristic.
