Disclosed is a broadcast signal transmitting method. A broadcast signal transmitting method according to an embodiment of the present invention may comprise: generating low level signaling (LLS) information; processing the LLS information into IP packets; generating link layer packets by link layer processing the IP packets; and generating a broadcast signal by physical layer processing the link layer packets.

Replacement of channel content with notification content

A switching module transmits channel content to a transport encoder. The switching module receives notification content associated with an emergency action system (EAS) message, and transmits the notification content to the transport encoder in place of the channel content.

Automatic diagnostics alerts for streaming content encoded by multiple entities
11336506 · 2022-05-17 · ·

Automatic diagnostics alerts for streaming multiple types of content is disclosed. At a first time, a set of metrics for a plurality of groups of streaming sessions is computed. A streaming session in a group is associated with streaming of a piece of content encoded by an entity. The streaming of the piece of content encoded by the entity is associated with streaming of another piece of content. An anomaly is identified at least in part by performing anomaly detection using the set of metrics. A cause of the identified anomaly is diagnosed. An alert is generated based at least in part on the diagnosis.

Providing energy-efficient features using human presence detection

Disclosed herein are system, method, and computer program product embodiments for the detection of human presence in an energy efficient manner using a plurality of sensors such as those of a battery-powered device such as a television remote, and a device with a processor, such as a television. Data gathered from an initial television WiFi radio scan, or an initial low-powered detection scan from the television remote, may be analyzed by the processor to determine a potential presence of one or more humans are present proximate to the device. If there is such a potential presence, the device remote can enter a full-powered detection mode to accurately determine the presence or absence of one or more humans, and take further actions.

EVENT-BASED RESPONDER DISPATCH

Dispatch-aiding communications between computing devices of a responder and a dispatch unit include a computing device of the responder determining that an event occurred, automatically sending an indication of the event to a computing device of the dispatch unit, receiving a request for information from the computing device of the dispatch unit, obtaining the information requested by the computing device of the dispatch unit, and sending the information requested by the computing device of the dispatch unit to the computing device of the dispatch unit. The computing device of the dispatch unit sends the request for information to the computing device of the responder in response to receiving the indication of the event.

Receiving apparatus, transmitting apparatus, and data processing method

This technology relates to a receiving apparatus, a transmitting apparatus, and a data processing method for displaying emergency information communicated in an emergency at appropriate positions. The receiving apparatus acquires metadata transmitted by a digital broadcast signal, the metadata including first emergency information required to be announced urgently and display position information indicating whether there is second emergency information embedded in uncompressed video data, the display position information further indicating, if the second emergency information is embedded in the uncompressed video data, the display position of the second emergency information on a screen. The receiving apparatus processes the metadata to determine whether the second emergency information is embedded in the uncompressed video data and, if the second emergency information is embedded in the uncompressed video data, displays the first emergency information at a position different from the display position of the second emergency information on the screen. This technology applies to television receivers, for example.

Systems and methods for communicating user settings in conjunction with execution of an application

A device maybe configured to cause application based features corresponding to a service provided by a service provider to execute based on one or more determined user settings.

Systems and methods for providing a contextual menu with information related to an emergency alert
11317163 · 2022-04-26 · ·

Systems and methods are described herein for presenting additional information related to an emergency alert. A media guidance application may detect that a new emergency alert has been received. The media guidance application may then perform a search of various content sources (e.g., program listings, the Internet, etc.) for content related to the emergency alert. The media guidance application may then present the search results in a contextual menu enabling the user to access content of the search results. The media guidance application may also provide more options, such as, recording or pausing media content that the user was in the process of consuming when the emergency alert was generated, and an option to the user not to bring up the contextual menu again if the same emergency alert is repeated.

Methods and systems for bypassing preemptions in recorded media assets

Methods and systems for transmitting an interruption-free version of a television program for recording on a user equipment device. In one aspect, a system transmits a first stream including a television program to a user equipment device. The system receives an indication that the television program is being recorded on the user equipment device. The system determines whether an interruption is imminent during transmission of the television program. In response to determining that the interruption is imminent, the system generates a second stream including the television program. The second stream does not include the interruption during the transmission of the television program. The system transmits the second stream to the user equipment device along with an instruction to switch recording of the television program from the first stream to the second stream.

Responding to Emergency-Alert Audio Tone by Abandoning Dynamic Content Modification
20220030324 · 2022-01-27 ·

A method and system for controlling dynamic content modification such as dynamic advertisement insertion. An example method includes detecting presence of an emergency-alert audio tone in a media stream accessible to a media client, and responsively causing the media client to abandon a dynamic content modification, such as to forgo a planned dynamic content modification or to discontinue an in-progress dynamic content modification. This method could occur while the media client is processing a given media stream for presentation, and the method could include detecting presence of the emergency-alert audio tone in the given media stream or alternatively in another media stream accessible to the media client. And in the latter case, the method could further involve causing the media client to switch from processing the given media stream for presentation to instead processing the other media stream for presentation, which could facilitate presenting of an associated emergency alert.
