MEDIA DATA MODIFICATION MANAGEMENT SYSTEM
A processor may manage media modification within a participant network. A processor may generate the participant network having a participant. The participant may be associated with one or more media data. A processor may enforce one or more rules on the participant network using an artificial intelligence (AI) based governance system. The one or more rules may manage the modification of the one or more media data by the participant. A processor may restrict the participant from modifying the one or more media data based, at least in part, on the AI based governance system.

Systems and methods for generating a watch schedule and compressed content to complete a series before expiration
Systems and methods are described herein for generating a watch schedule and compressed series for a user for a series that is expected to become unavailable. Availability data indicating when a content series will become unavailable is received and compared to user progression habits. If the content series will become unavailable before the user will complete it, a watch schedule may be offered to the user. If the user subsequently falls behind on this watch schedule, a compressed version of the content series may be offered to the user.
RULES ENGINE FOR CONTROLLING CONTENT ACCESS
The disclosed technology is directed towards a rules engine that determines whether a content asset such as a movie is allowed to be downloaded to a device, such as for offline viewing. A rules engine receives information of a request to download a content asset to a device, in which the request is associated with a user identifier and a content asset identifier. The rules engine obtains a rule identifier via the asset identifier, which is used to obtain a ruleset. The rules engine obtains user download state information associated with the user identifier, and evaluates the ruleset and the download state information to determine whether to allow the download of the content asset. A ruleset can include entries such as total downloads allowed, total downloads allowed by a studio that owns the content asset, downloaded copies of the same asset allowed (e.g., to different user devices), and the like.
ON DEMAND SHARED MEDIA STREAMING WITH LOCATIONAL AND TEMPORAL LIMITATIONS
A shared media streaming system is configured to allow audience members of a movie screening or other live event to view that event via a user device such as a personal smartphone if they exit the area of the live event to visit a concession area or restroom. The shared media stream begins displaying the film on the user device starting at the same moment that the request to stream was made so that the user may leave and return to the screening room without missing substantial portions of the film, and without re-watching already viewed portions of the film. Viewing is limited to particular geofenced areas within a theater, and is limited in time so that users must return to the screening room if they wish to continue watching the film beyond the limited time. Other limitations are also enforced to prevent misuse of the system.
Fast-expiring licenses used to speculatively authorize access to streaming media content
Techniques are disclosed for improving user experience of multimedia streaming over computer networks. More specifically, techniques presented herein reduce (or eliminate) latency in playback start time for streaming digital media content resulting from digital rights management (DRM) authorizations. A streaming media client (e.g., a browser, set-top box, mobile telephone or tablet “app”) may request a “fast-expiring” license for titles the streaming media client predicts a user is likely to begin streaming. A fast-expiring license is a DRM license (and associated decryption key) which is valid for only a very limited time after being used for playback. During the validity period of such a license, the client device requests a “normal” or “regular” license to continue accessing the title after the fast-expiring license expires.

Method for acquiring access rights to conditional access content
A method of acquiring access rights to conditional access content. The method comprises receiving an access right on a first terminal through a first communication channel; storing said access right in said first terminal; sending a request for said conditional access content to a content provider, said request containing at least an identifier of an account to which said first terminal is associated, an identifier of the requested content and a piece of information concerning said access right; verifying, by said content provider, the authenticity of said access right using said piece of information concerning the access right; and when there has been a successful verification, marking said access right as used, and sending said conditional access content to at least one terminal linked to said account. The first terminal using near field communication technology (NFC) during at least one transfer of said access rights.

Personalized menus and media content interface
Methods and apparatus for generating personalized menus and a media content interface are provided. In one example, different device specific media asset lists are generated at different user devices for the same user based on the media consumption history at each device. In another example, media asset listings are displayed for multicast and on-demand media assets determined to be of interest to the user. An on-demand media asset is listed at a time when no other multicast media assets are listed. In another example, media asset listings for successive episodes of a media series are displayed in sequential order in response to an input to view successive episodes of a media series. In another example, a text search for media content is performed in which the search priority of media provider results is decreased relative to the search priority of media asset results as additional characters are added to a search string.
