A method for processing media data includes determining at least one target feature and determining corresponding effect relating to the at least one target feature. Media data is received from a sender. Once the at least one target feature is detected in the media data, the corresponding effect relating to the at least one target feature is applied to the media data.

The present invention involves a system and method for proctoring testimony, including proctoring a remote deposition, which reduces or eliminates disingenuous conduct and preserves the integrity of the testimony. A server may be configured to host a remote deposition comprising a live video stream between a host device and one or more client devices. The client devices are configured to receive an invite from the server or the host device to join the remote deposition. The invite to a client device of the witness being deposed, includes a link with instructions to access the remote deposition and lock a user interface of the client device during the live video stream. An application executable by the client device of the witness is configured to access the remote deposition, display the live video stream, and lock access to the user interface of the client device during the live video stream.

Described herein are systems and methods for hardware enforcement of hardware functionality in a television receiver. An activation message containing an activation code for a specific hardware component within the television receiver can be transmitted from a television service provider system to a television receiver having an associated smart card. The smart card can decrypt the activation message, security check the activation message, confirm the activation message is intended for the television receiver, encrypt the activation message with a local key, and transmit the activation message to a security processor on the television receiver. The security processor can decrypt the activation message, security check the activation message to ensure it is from the smart card and has not been tampered with, and enable the hardware component within the television receiver based on the activation code within the activation message.

A play method for a streaming media file, and a display apparatus are provided. The method comprises: in response to a command for playing a streaming media file on a display of the display apparatus, obtaining the streaming media file and determining a state of the streaming media file; in response to the state of the streaming media file being encrypted state, flowing video data in the streaming media file into a trusted execution environment of the display apparatus, and determining a state of the video data in the trusted execution environment; and in response to the state of the video data being encrypted state, decrypting the video data, decoding the decrypted video data, and then playing the decoded video data.

Systems and methods for accessing a media stream are presented. In response to a request for a media stream, an individual can be authorized to manipulate the media stream. Once an individual has gained authorization with respect to a media stream's manipulation rights, they are allowed to manipulate the stream. In some embodiments, a provider controls a secure environment to play the stream and enforce the rights.

Methods, systems, and devices secure content in memory. The content includes a lock that prohibits reading the content from memory. Prior to expiration of the lock the content cannot be read from memory. However, a preview option allows at least a portion of the content to be accessed. The preview option provides a preview of the content. At expiration, the content is readable.

The present technology relates to a reception device, a transmission device, and a data processing method for easily controlling operation of an application accompanying content. The reception device receives the content and controls activation of the application accompanying the content on the basis of valid period information indicating a period in which the application is valid, thereby to easily control the operation of the application accompanying the content. Disclosed herein is a reception apparatus including: a reception block configured to receive broadcast content broadcast via a broadcasting network; an acquisition block configured to acquire inserted content that is inserted in the broadcast content during the reception thereof; an output block configured to output at least one of the broadcast content and the inserted content; a switch block configured to switch between the broadcast content and the inserted content outputted from the output block; and a buffer configured to sequentially store data of the received broadcast content when the broadcast content is switched to the inserted content; wherein, if the inserted content is switched to the broadcast content, the output block outputs the broadcast content from the buffer while the inserted content is outputted.

A method and system for limiting the amount of screentime available to a child device based on the activity of a user of the child device. A parent device is used to specify activity threshold(s) and associate them with an amount of screentime. An activity sensor provides activity data that is converted to a screentime value. An available screentime value is decremented as screentime is used on the child device. When the available screentime value reaches zero, access to functions or apps on the child device is disabled.
