User interface for a remote control application
A hand-held electronic device having a remote control application user interface that functions to displays operational mode information to a user. The graphical user interface may be used, for example, to setup the remote control application to control appliances for one or more users in one or more rooms, to perform activities, and to access favorites. The remote control application is also adapted to be upgradeable. Furthermore, the remote control application provides for the sharing of operational mode information.
AUTOMATED POST-PRODUCTION EDITING FOR USER-GENERATED MULTIMEDIA CONTENTS
Methods, apparatus and systems related to packaging a multimedia content for distribution are described. In one example aspect, a method for performing post-production editing includes receiving one or more footages of an event from at least one user. The method includes constructing, based on information about the event, a script to indicate a structure of multiple temporal units of the one or more footages, and extracting semantic meaning from the one or more footages based on a multimodal analysis comprising at least an audio analysis and a video analysis. The method also includes adding editing instructions to the script based on the structure of the multiple temporal units and the semantic meaning extracted from the one or more footages and performing editing operations based on the editing instructions to generate an edited multimedia content based on the one or more footages.

DIGITAL SIGNAGE USING ATSC 3.0
Techniques are described for using the Advanced Television Systems Committee (ATSC) 3.0 television protocol and more specifically various types of ATSC 3.0 signaling to deliver private content for signage to kiosks and other public displays.
AUDIENCE DEFINITION FOR MEDIA PROGRAMS
In some embodiments, a method receives a plurality of viewing policies for a media program. The plurality of viewing policies include an action to perform for the media program and an audience. The action for at least a portion of the plurality of viewing policies is reviewed to determine a first viewing policy that includes the action of sending a base content stream for the media program. The method selects a first audience associated with the base content stream in the first viewing policy and one or more second audiences associated with actions in one or more second viewing policies. An audience definition for the media program defining one or more restrictions on viewing the media program is generated. The one or more restrictions are based on the first audience and the one or more second audiences. Then, the method stores the audience definition for the media program.

MEDIA DESCRIPTOR FILE COMPRISING A REFERENCE TO OTHER STREAMING MEDIA CONTENT
A method is provided for generating a media descriptor file for first streaming media content. The method is performed in a file generator and comprises the steps: obtaining metadata for the first streaming media content, the metadata comprising a reference to a media descriptor file for second streaming media content, the second streaming media content being separate from the first streaming media content; and generating the media descriptor file comprising the metadata.

PARTIAL FRAME REPLACEMENT ENABLING MULTIPLE VERSIONS IN AN INTEGRATED VIDEO PACKAGE
Multiple different versions of media content are contained in a single package of audio-video media content, using compression algorithms that reduce storage and bandwidth required for storing multiple full-resolution versions of the media. Portions of individual frames are replaced during playback so that only the pixels that differ between versions need to be stored.
RICH MEDIA ENVIRONMENT
The present invention provides a Rich Media Environment configurable to provide the user with a seamless way of conducting transactions from within a window of the rich media environment itself. All intermediate steps relating to the required transaction are carried out by calling up relevant modules/applications from within the application libraries from within an e-commerce platform. In preferred embodiments, the rich media environment is configured to be served a rich media file from a file location such as a server or other content delivery network (CDN). The rich media environment is further configured be initialized based on the content of the rich media file and configured to display predefined overlays to the user based on the content of the rich media file. The content owner can upload the rich media files to a server or other CDN via a dashboard/user interface. The parameters can be added to the rich media file using a plurality of fields to enable the desired functionality to be achieved.
