Method of requesting video, computing device, and computer-program product
A method of requesting video is provided. The method includes: sending a first video request to a server in response to a video playing instruction, wherein, the server returns a video description information segment and a corresponding complete video according to the first video request, and the video includes a plurality of video segments, and the video description information segment is configured to describe each of the video segments; parsing the video description information segment; and playing the video in segments according to the parsed video description information segment in the process of downloading the video. The present application also provides a computing device and a computer-program product.
Broadcast receiving device, method of operating broadcast receiving device, linking device for linking to broadcast receiving device, and method of operating linking device
A companion device interoperating with a broadcast reception device for receiving a broadcast signal, can include a communication device configured to connect the companion device with the broadcast reception device, in which the broadcast signal includes emergency alert information and service information for a broadcast service, and the service information includes service identification information for identifying the broadcast service and name information of the broadcast service, and the emergency alert information and the service information are carried in Internet Protocol (IP) packets having a same IP address; and a controller configured to receive the emergency alert information from the broadcast reception device, the emergency alert information including identifier information for the emergency alert information, category information of the emergency alert information, and priority information for the emergency alert information, and the controller receiving information for components of the broadcast service.

Systems and methods of presenting video overlays
Systems and methods are provided for relocating an overlay overlapping information in content. The systems and methods may comprise receiving a content item, the content item comprising a video image, and determining a first screen position of an information box (e.g., a score box) in the video image. Determining may be performed with image analysis and/or a machine learning model. The system receives an overlay image (e.g., a channel logo) with a second screen position and determines if the second screen position (e.g., for the logo) overlaps the first screen position (e.g., for the score). In response to determining the second screen position (e.g., of the logo) overlaps the first screen position (e.g., the score), the system modifies the second screen position (e.g., for the logo). Then the system generates for display the overlay image on the video in the modified screen position. The system may not relocate the overlay if the overlay is a high priority.
DETERMINING A STARTING TIME FOR A SESSION-BASED DESCRIPTION FILE
A method for receiving media data includes receiving a media presentation description (MPD) file and a session-based description (SBD) file, and determining whether the SBD file includes a starting time attribute indicating a starting time of an SBD timeline of a session. The method also includes determining the starting time of the SBD timeline based on the SBD file in response to the SBD file including the starting time attribute. The method further includes, in response to the SBD file not including the starting time attribute, determining the starting time of the SBD timeline based on an availability starting time attribute of an MPD element of the MPD file in response to (i) a type of the MPD file being dynamic and (ii) a determination that an SBD descriptor corresponding to the SBD file is included in the MPD file at an MPD level.
SESSION-BASED DESCRIPTION URL CUSTOMIZATION USING THE SESSION-BASED DASH OPERATIONS
A method and apparatus for providing video content in a Dynamic Adaptive Streaming over Hypertext Transfer Protocol (DASH) streaming session may be provided. The method may include obtaining a pre-session-based description (PreSBD) information of the DASH streaming session instructing a PreSBD client to generate customized session-based description (SBD) document uniform resource locator (URL) for a plurality of SBD descriptors of the DASH streaming session. The method may further include instantiating the PreSBD client and passing PreSBD descriptor information. Then, the method may include controlling generation of a customized SBD document URL associated with a first SBD descriptor from the plurality of SBD descriptors of the DASH streaming session. The method may further include launching a first SBD client based on the customized SBD document URL and passing the first SBD descriptor.
Advanced television systems committee (ATSC) 3.0 latency-free display of content attribute
Techniques are described for expanding and/or improving the Advanced Television Systems Committee (ATSC) 3.0 television protocol in robustly delivering the next generation broadcast television services. A dynamic MPD can be supplemented by offline descriptor information transmitted OTA at display time so that the descriptor information, e.g., language information, captioning information, and the like, can be immediately presented on a UI.
Rights Management and Syndication of Content
Systems, devices, and methods are described herein for distributing syndicated content or content with one or more distribution restrictions. In one aspect, a method may include assigning a unique ID to a plurality of content items, where the unique ID of at least one of the content items is associated with one or more property distribution restrictions. The method may further include streaming in a video stream the content items to at least two properties and monitoring the unique IDs of the plurality of content items streamed in the video stream to detect least one content item associated with the one or more property distribution restrictions. The distribution of the least one content item associated with the one or more property distribution restrictions may be blocked from the one or more properties concurrently with streaming the video stream, based on the one or more property distribution restrictions.
