METHOD, DEVICE AND SYSTEM FOR CONTROLLING CONTENT DISPLAY
The present invention relates to a method for displaying content within an electronic device. The method including the steps of: displaying part of the content; displaying an ad comprising a video; and revealing at least part of the remainder of the content once the ad has played back at least a portion of the video. A device and system are also disclosed.
METHODS, SYSTEMS, PROCESSOR AND COMPUTER CODE FOR PROVIDING VIDEO CLIPS
A computer-implemented method/system of providing video clip playback, including: (i) receiving a video feed; (ii) converting the video feed into a compressed format structure; (iii) uploading the compressed format structure to a first server; (iv) receiving an electronic edit decision list defining how to manipulate the compressed format structure; (v) saving the electronic edit decision list to a server; (vi) receiving a request to provide to a user terminal a video clip playback corresponding to a video clip defined by the compressed format structure and the electronic edit decision list; (vii) sending to the user code executable to provide the video clip defined by the compressed format structure and the electronic edit decision list, and (viii) responding to requests from the code when executed, to provide content corresponding to the compressed format structure stored, in accordance with the electronic edit decision list, to provide the decision list video clip playback.

Cloud-based digital content recorder apparatus and methods
Apparatus and methods for the storage and delivery of content over a network. In one embodiment, the network comprises a managed content distribution network, and the apparatus comprises a cloud digital video recorder (cDVR) server which stores, processes and assembles content prior to its delivery in a way that obviates superfluous storage, and gains significant network efficiencies. This approach also facilitates various pre-streaming processing in the video recording (e.g., cDVR) system. One or more content libraries adapted to facilitate cDVR content assembly and access are also disclosed. Secondary content (e.g., promotions, advertisements, etc.) can also be selectively inserted into cDVR content. Various access, business or operational rules and methods implementing the foregoing are also described.

ADVANCED TELEVISION SYSTEMS COMMITTEE (ATSC) 3.0 LATENCY-FREE DISPLAY OF CONTENT ATTRIBUTE
Techniques are described for expanding and/or improving the Advanced Television Systems Committee (ATSC) 3.0 television protocol in robustly delivering the next generation broadcast television services. A dynamic MPD can be supplemented by offline descriptor information transmitted OTA at display time so that the descriptor information, e.g., language information, captioning information, and the like, can be immediately presented on a UI.
METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR IMPROVING HIGH AVAILABILITY FOR LIVE CONTENT
A system and method for acquiring live content for a content delivery network (CDN). The method includes: intercepting a content manifest based on a content session initiated by a first user node and a broadcast server, where the content manifest includes at least one content identifier (ID) and its corresponding content chunk; fetching the content chunk to store in a memory of the CDN; receiving a request from a second user node for content of the content session; continuously determining a leader user node between at least the first user node and the second user node; and fetching at least a content chunk based on a content manifest of the leader user node.
BROADCAST RECEIVING DEVICE, METHOD OF OPERATING BROADCAST RECEIVING DEVICE, LINKING DEVICE FOR LINKING TO BROADCAST RECEIVING DEVICE, AND METHOD OF OPERATING LINKING DEVICE
A companion device interoperating with a broadcast reception device for receiving a broadcast service, includes a communication device configured to connect the companion device with the broadcast reception device; and a controller configured to receive emergency alert information from the broadcast reception device, the emergency alert information including identifier information for the emergency alert information, category information of the emergency alert information, and priority information for the emergency alert information, wherein a value of the priority information represents one of 5 levels of priority of the emergency alert information, the 5 levels represents the priority from low priority to high priority, and in response to a change of the priority, the controller receives changed emergency alert information including changed priority information of which a value represents a level of the changed priority.

Device Provisioning
A method and system of provisioning a set-top box (STB) with a STB provisioning system are provided which include storing STB profile information in a provisioning datastore, receiving a customer order at a service provisioning system, notifying a billing system of the customer order, and notifying a conditional access system of the customer order. The method and system further include storing information from the customer order in a provisioning datastore, notifying a video device manager about the STB, and delivering a cable operator configuration message from the video device manager to the STB, the configuration message being based on information from the provisioning datastore, thereby provisioning the STB without essential involvement of the conditional access system.
