Each of the plurality of DAUs is fed by a plurality of data streams and is operable to transport digital signals between others of the plurality of DAUs. The redundancy system also includes a plurality of Digital Distribution Units (DDUs). Each of the plurality of DDUs is in communication with each of the plurality of DAUs using cross connection communication paths. The redundancy system further includes a plurality of Digital Remote Units (DRUs). Each of the plurality of DRUs is in communication with each of the plurality of DDUs using cross connection communications paths.
Scalable Secure Hybrid Electrical-Optical Switched Network with Optical Wavelength Tunable Transceivers
A method for creating a hybrid electric and optical data center network is provided with a plurality of servers, a plurality of ToR/EoR switches, and an optical central switch. Each of the plurality servers maintains an electronic connection with a corresponding ToR/EoR switch from the plurality of switches. The plurality of ToR/EoR switches is interconnected to each other electronically and optically. The optical central switch in conjunction with a plurality of tunable transceivers allows a signal originating from any of the plurality of the servers, to traverse the data center network to reach any destination server. To do so, wavelength switching takes place via the plurality of transceivers at each of the ToR/EoR switches. Simultaneously, space switching takes place within the center switch. By utilizing the method, intra data center bandwidth is optimized and the network the method is utilized in is non-blocking.
METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR OPTICAL NODE CONSTRUCTION USING SOFTWARE PROGRAMMABLE ROADMS
Example embodiments of the present invention relate to a software programmable reconfigurable optical add drop multiplexer (ROADM) comprising of a plurality of wavelength switches and a plurality of waveguide switches, wherein when the plurality of waveguide switches are set to a first switch configuration, the software programmable ROADM provides n degrees of an n-degree optical node, and wherein when the waveguide switches are set to a second switch configuration, the software programmable ROADM provides k degrees of an m-degree optical node.
OPTICAL SWITCHING DEVICE, OPTICAL SWITCHING SYSTEM, AND METHOD OF OPTICAL SWITCHING
An optical switching device including: an input unit to which multichannel light beams are redundantly input; a channel tunable optical filter that confirms, from the received multichannel light beams, whether correct input of a channel for an output destination is included; and an optical switch that outputs, to an optical transfer device which is the output destination, any one of the multichannel light beams that includes the channel which has been correctly input.
OPTICAL COMMUNICATIONS SYSTEM WITH CENTRALIZED WAVELENGTH SOURCE
The disclosure is directed to an optical telecommunications system which includes a central node and a plurality of user nodes. The central node provides the light necessary to enable communication between the user nodes. Within the central node is a multi-wavelength source, providing lights at different wavelengths, along with a wavelength selector. The wavelength selector selects one of the lights at different wavelengths from the multi-wavelength source for delivery to the user nodes such that the user nodes then modulate this light for transmission between nodes.
NOISE SUPPRESSION AND AMPLIFICATION SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR COLORLESS OPTICAL ADD/DROP DEVICES
A method for noise suppression in a colorless optical add/drop system implemented prior to a colorless optical add/drop device includes, subsequent to receiving an optical signal from an optical modem, filtering the optical signal with a wavelength blocking filter to suppress out of band Amplified Stimulated Emission (ASE) in order to prevent noise funneling in the colorless optical add/drop device; and providing the filtered optical signal with the out of band ASE suppressed therein to a multiplexer port in the colorless optical add/drop device. The method can include, prior to the filtering, amplifying the optical signal with a single channel amplifier, wherein the single channel amplifier can include a pump laser shared with one or more additional single channel amplifiers.
CONTROL APPARATUS, CONTROL METHOD AND RECORDING MEDIUM WITH CONTROL PROGRAM RECORDED THEREON
A control apparatus configured to transmit first settings information including first settings contents with respect to an optical transmission device. The control apparatus includes a processor and a storage. The processor is configured to receive a setting error with respect to the first settings information from the optical transmission device, store a setting condition of the optical transmission device that is acquired from the setting error in the storage, determine second settings contents relating to transmission of an optical signal with respect to the optical transmission device based on the stored setting condition, and transmit second settings information including the second settings contents to the optical transmission device.
Radix enhancement for photonic packet switch
A system can include an optical multiplexer to combine a plurality of optical input signals having respective wavelengths into a wide-channel optical input signal that is provided to an input channel. The system also includes a photonic packet switch comprising a switch core and a plurality of ports defining a switch radix of the photonic packet switch. The input channel and an output channel can be associated with one of the plurality of ports. The photonic packet switch can process the wide-channel optical input signal and can generate a wide-channel optical output signal that is provided to the output channel. The system further includes an optical demultiplexer to separate the wide-channel optical output signal into a plurality of optical output signals having respective wavelengths. The optical multiplexer and the optical demultiplexer can collectively provide the system with a radix greater than the switch radix.
Optical transmitter and transmission method, and optical receiver and receiption method
The present invention discloses: when a first laser in N lasers is switched to a second idle laser in M lasers, a wavelength of a wavelength-selective optical element to which the first laser is coupled is adjusted from a first wavelength to a second wavelength, and the second wavelength is different from the N wavelengths. Similarly, when a first optical receiver in N optical receivers is switched to a second idle optical receiver in M optical receivers, a wavelength of a wavelength-selective optical element to which the first optical receiver is coupled is adjusted from a first wavelength to a second wavelength, and the second wavelength is different from the N wavelengths.
