Communications systems comprising waveguide arrays for realizing localized quantum walks
A waveguide array that includes a plurality of waveguides disposed in a substrate. The plurality of waveguides include one or more first waveguides that have a first propagation constant and one or more second waveguides that have a second propagation constant, where the first propagation constant differs from the second propagation constant. The one or more first waveguides and the one or more second waveguides are disposed in the substrate in a linear distribution and at least a portion of the linear distribution is arranged based on a quasi-periodic sequence having a plurality of sequence segments. Each sequence segment is determined based on a quasi-periodic function, has an order, and corresponds to an arrangement segment of a first waveguide, a second waveguide, or combinations thereof. The linear distribution includes at least one arrangement segment corresponding with a third-order sequence segment or higher of the quasi-periodic sequence.

An intelligent subsystem coupled with a system-on-chip (comprising a microprocessor/graphic processor), a radio transceiver, a voice processing module/voice processing algorithm, a foldable/stretchable display, a near-field communication device, a biometric sensor and an intelligent learning algorithm is disclosed. The intelligent subsystem can respond to a user's interests and/or preferences. Furthermore, the intelligent subsystem is sensor-aware or context-aware.
Intelligent subsystem
An intelligent subsystem comprising a system-on-a-chip (that can include a microprocessor and a graphic/graphical processor), a foldable/stretchable display, radio modules/transceivers, a first set of computer implementable instructions for intelligent learning (that can include (i) artificial intelligence or an artificial neural network and (ii) fuzzy logic) and a second set of computer implementable instructions in natural language is disclosed. The intelligent subsystem can (i) respond to a user's interests and/or preferences and (ii) provide a peer-to-peer transaction. Furthermore, the intelligent subsystem can be sensor-aware or context-aware.
Intelligent subsystem in access networks
An intelligent subsystem is disclosed that comprises a system-on-a-chip (SoC)/microprocessor, a radio transceiver and a microphone/voice processing module (which includes one or more electronic components), wherein the, intelligent subsystem is communicatively interfaced with a first set of computer implementable instructions in natural language, a second set of computer implementable instructions in artificial intelligence and a third set of computer implementable instructions to provide a search on an internet based on a user's interest/preference, wherein the first set of computer implementable instructions, the second set of computer implementable instructions and the third set of computer implementable instructions are stored in one or more cloud-based non-transitory storage media.
Optical device
An optical device includes: wavelength selection elements; an optical switch that switches a propagation path of input light that is from an input port such that the input light propagates to one designated wavelength selection element among the wavelength selection elements; and a separation element disposed in the propagation path of the input light between the input port and the wavelength selection elements and that separates the input light into wavelength components.
RECONFIGURABLE OPTICAL ROUTER
Embodiments of the invention describe apparatuses, optical systems, and methods for utilizing a dynamically reconfigurable optical transmitter. A laser array outputs a plurality of laser signals (which may further be modulated based on electrical signals), each of the plurality of laser signals having a wavelength, wherein the wavelength of each of the plurality of laser signals is tunable based on other electrical signals. An optical router receives the plurality of (modulated) laser signals at input ports and outputs the plurality of received (modulated) laser signals to one or more output ports based on the tuned wavelength of each of the plurality of received laser signals. This reconfigurable transmitter enables dynamic bandwidth allocation for multiple destinations via the tuning of the laser wavelengths.

Optical switching unit
An optical switching unit comprising: a plurality of arrays of multiple optical waveguides; and a switching structure controllable to direct light received from any of the optical waveguides in a first array of the plurality of arrays to one or more optical waveguides of each other array in the plurality of arrays.
Optical transmitter module
Disclosed is an optical transmitter module including a directly modulated laser transmitter based on a directly modulated laser (DML) and an arrayed waveguide grating (AWG) chip that is vertically polished. The directly modulated laser transmitter includes a directly modulated laser chip array including one or more directly modulated laser chips, an impedance matching circuit that allows each of the one or more directly modulated laser chips to operate at a critical speed of 100 Gbps per channel or higher, and a radio frequency-flexible printed circuit board (RF-FPCB) that transmits a radio frequency (RF) modulating signal to the directly modulated laser chip array. The arrayed waveguide grating chip includes an optical waveguides that transfer multi-channel optical signals and a wavelength multiplexer that multiplexes the multi-channel optical signals. The directly modulated laser transmitter and the arrayed waveguide grating chip are spaced apart from each other and are optically coupled in chip-to-chip.
