Modular Appliance Apparatus Configured for Multiple Attachments
A modular appliance apparatus is disclosed for use in the preparation of food products. The modular appliance apparatus may have a housing to contain internal components. The housing may contain a motor, a controller, and electronic circuitry. On a bottom portion of the housing, at least one base contact may be present. An attachment may secure to the bottom portion of the housing and contain at least one attachment contact. An electronic connection between the at least one base contact and at least one attachment contact may be interpreted by the controller to determine a speed of operation by the motor. Depending on the type of attachment secured to the housing, various different combinations of electronic connections may be made to operate the motor at different speeds to meet the requirements for food preparation by the specific attachment.

An attachment for a food processing device includes a base attachment housing having a first port configured to receive a drive coupler of a detachably connectable motorized base housing and a second port configured to receive a central rotating member of a detachably connectable accessory attachment. The base attachment housing also includes a drive transfer assembly configured to couple the first port to the second port. The drive transfer assembly is configured to transfer rotational motion of the drive coupler to drive rotational motion of the central rotating member of the accessory attachment when the motorized base housing and the accessory attachment are connected to the first port and second port respectively.

A food mixing device includes a main housing, a food sensing module and a signal control module. The food sensing module is provided in the mixing portion of the main housing for detecting a temperature and predetermined ingredients of food materials mixed by the food mixing device. The device includes a first processor having a plurality of ports where each port of the plurality of ports is in electrical communication with each of the plurality of electrical contacts. The first processor is configured to: i) receive an identification signal at a first port of the plurality of ports via the electrical connector from a second processor in the received food processing attachment to identify the received food processing attachment, and ii) when an identification signal is not received, monitor a voltage at each of the plurality of ports to identify the received food processing attachment.
