Acoustic waveguides for multi-channel playback devices
11528555 · 2022-12-13 · ·

Acoustic waveguides can be used to improve audio performance of playback devices, such as a soundbar. Such a playback device can include an elongated body defining an outer perimeter with a forward surface, an upper surface, and a rounded edge between the forward surface and the upper surface. An up-firing transducer is configured to direct sound along an axis that has a vertical oblique angle with respect to a forward axis. A waveguide in fluid communication with the up-firing transducer includes a sidewall extending circumferentially around the transducer, the sidewall having a first end adjacent the up-firing transducer and a second end adjacent the outer perimeter, such that an opening defined by the sidewall has a larger area at the second end than at the first end. A rear portion of the sidewall is more steeply angled with respect to the axis than a forward portion of the sidewall.

Disclosed is an intelligent head-mounted apparatus, comprising: a lens; a leg coupled to the lens and provided with a cavity therein; a sound generation device provided in the cavity and dividing the cavity into a front sound cavity and a rear sound cavity; a sound outlet hole provided on the leg and in communication with the front sound cavity; and a main sound leakage hole provided on the leg and in communication with the rear sound cavity, wherein positions of the sound outlet hole and the main sound leakage hole are configured such that the sound outlet hole is located at a front side of an auricle of a wearer, and the main sound leakage hole is located at a rear side of the auricle of the wearer when the wearer wears the intelligent head-mounted apparatus.

ACOUSTIC REFLECTOR FOR HEIGHT CHANNEL SPEAKER

A height channel speaker with an integrated acoustic reflector to reflect sound off of a ceiling down to a listener. The acoustic reflector compensates for thin transducers by creating a virtual image of the real sound source outside the speaker enclosure. The focal point of the acoustic reflector is controlled by modifying the curvature of the reflector surface. The transducer is mounted on an inclined plane to radiate sound in a rear-upward inclined direction. The acoustic reflector is mounted on the same inclined plane so that the radiant axis of the transducer is directly incident on the acoustic reflector surface. The sound is projected towards the ceiling in a forward, upward-inclined direction to reflect off the ceiling and down to the listener. The speaker can be acoustically occluded from the listener by a panel to which the speaker is attached.

Quadruple Transducer
20220394412 · 2022-12-08 ·

A quadrupole transducer created by spatially offsetting a first dipole from a second dipole while causing the first and second dipoles to produce the same acoustic signal. This arrangement minimizes floor, ceiling and wall reflections which alter the perception of sound quality. In some embodiments the second dipole is vertically offset from the first dipole. This produces a phantom acoustic image that is perceived to emanate from an intermediate position.

Passive thermal-control system of an electronic speaker device and associated electronic speaker devices
11521909 · 2022-12-06 · ·

This document describes a passive thermal-control system that can be integrated into an electronic speaker device and associated electronic speaker devices. The passive thermal-control system uses an architecture that combines heat spreaders and thermal interface materials to transfer heat from heat-generating electronic devices of the electronic speaker device to a housing component of the electronic speaker device. The housing component dissipates the heat to prevent a thermal runaway condition.

Omnidirectional speaker with inverted dome diaphragm and separate exits
11523210 · 2022-12-06 · ·

An omnidirectional loudspeaker having an inverted dome diaphragm disposed operably connected to a motor assembly and a phasing plug mounted to the motor assembly. The phasing plug has a top portion facing a convex surface of the inverted dome diaphragm and a bottom portion extending downward from the top portion along the central axis with a plurality of concentric apertures extending therethrough. Each aperture has a predetermined radial width and is spaced a predetermined concentric distance from an adjacent aperture. The plurality of concentric apertures cooperates with a compression chamber between the convex surface of the inverted dome diaphragm and the top portion of the phasing plug. Each aperture has a predetermined radial width, is spaced a predetermined concentric distance from an adjacent aperture and extends through the phasing plug exiting at the bottom portion.
