Active set management based on the likelihood of a mobile station roaming
In one aspect, an exemplary method involves a WCD: (i) determining a likelihood of roaming, wherein the likelihood of roaming indicates a likelihood that the WCD will be handed off from a preferred coverage area to a non-preferred coverage area; and (ii) using the likelihood of roaming as a basis for managing an active set of the WCD. In particular, the WCD may manage its active set by setting at least one active-set parameter affecting the number of active sectors in an active set of the WCD, and then maintaining its active set according to the setting of the at least one active-set parameter. According to an exemplary embodiment, a WCD will make an effort to increase the number of sectors in its active set when the likelihood of roaming is greater, and vice versa.
Cellular service recovery using cell-specific service history
This disclosure relates to cellular service recovery techniques using cell-specific cellular service history information for an accessory device. According to some embodiments, cellular service history information relating to cellular service loss occasions for each of one or more cells from which the accessory device has previously lost cellular service may be stored. It may be determined that cellular service loss is currently occurring from a cell for which cellular service history information relating to cellular service loss occasions is stored. Cellular service recovery may be attempted using the cellular service history information relating to cellular service loss occasions for the cell from which the current cellular service loss is occurring.
INFORMATION REPORTING AND RECEIVING METHOD AND APPARATUS, RELATED DEVICE AND STORAGE MEDIUM
Disclosed is an information reporting and receiving method and apparatus, a terminal, a network device and a storage medium. The method includes that: a terminal records relevant information of Conditional Hand Over (CHO); and the terminal reports the relevant information of CHO to a network side.
Method for reporting mobility history of terminal and apparatus for supporting same
Disclosed are a method by which a terminal reports a mobility history, and an apparatus for supporting the same. The method comprises the steps of: updating, according to a movement of the terminal, a mobility history including identification information on a beam in which the terminal has stayed and a stay time in the beam; allowing the terminal to enter an RRC connection state; and transmitting the stored identification information and the stay time to a network.
CIRCUIT SWITCHED SERVICE PROCESSING METHOD AND TERMINAL
A method includes when a terminal needs to execute a circuit switched service again after completing the execution of the circuit switched service once, the terminal executes the circuit switched service again instead of immediately returning to a first network, and then returns to the first network when a preset condition is met.
Limiting handoffs between wireless communication networks during a time period
This disclosure provides systems, methods, and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on computer-readable media, for limiting handoffs in cellular networks. In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may determine a quantity of handoffs that are performed between two or more radio access technologies (RATs) during a time period. The UE may determine whether the quantity of handoffs exceeds a handoff threshold within the time period. The UE may reduce a rate of handoffs when the UE determines that the quantity of handoffs exceeds the handoff threshold within the time period. The UE also may select one of the RATs to camp on and maintain the wireless connection when the UE determines that the quantity of handoffs exceeds the handoff threshold. The UE may determine which RAT to camp on based on handoff count information, handoff total connection time information, or contextual awareness information.
SELECTION OF INTER-NETWORK COMMUNICATION
A device to deliver data to a network may be identified. The data to be delivered may be identified. Information associated with a device's probability of travelling to the network may be identified. Based on that information, the data to be delivered may be transferred to the device.
CONTEXT PREPARATION FOR CONSECUTIVE CONDITIONAL HANDOVERS
A method includes determining, by a source base station, based on at least one of a measurement report received from a terminal device and a mobility trajectory of the terminal device, a prepared cell list that includes a set of cells where the terminal device is capable of handover. The method includes sending at least one required context for the handover to the set of cells in the prepared cell list. The method also includes receiving acknowledgement from the set of cells. The method further includes sending a handover complete message, which contains the prepared cell list, to the terminal device, wherein the prepared cell list provides a capability for the terminal device to make a number of handovers when the terminal device is within a coverage area of the set of cells.
Cognitive Roaming Support
Methods and systems are described for generating and utilizing a pattern of association. The pattern of association can comprise information that indicates to which of a plurality of network devices one or more mobile devices are likely to connect. The pattern of association can comprise information that indicates an order of association. The pattern of association can be associated with one or more factors which can be any information that provides insight into the pattern of association. The pattern of association can be used to identify a next network device that a mobile device will transition to based on which network device the mobile device is currently connected to. Data, such as authentication information, can be pushed to the identified next network device to reduce network connectivity issues that may occur by transitioning between network devices.
LOCATION BASED WIRELESS NETWORK OPTIMIZATION IN EMBEDDED SYSTEMS
Method and devices for optimizing wireless network connections in transportation vehicles are provided. An onboard computing device in a transportation vehicle identifies blackout area with severe wireless signal interference caused by nearby wireless access points in the blackout area. The wireless interference can be remedied by dynamically switching wireless channel for the in-vehicle wireless connection between the onboard computing device and a mobile device in the vehicle. The wireless interference can also be remedied by pre-caching the data needed for a content presentation during a time period when the vehicle travels within the blackout area.
