Optimizing battery consumption of remote end devices on a wireless long-range wide-area network (LoRaWAN)

A long-range wireless network extends the battery life of the most remote end devices by forming pairs with a relayer end device that relays data from the remote end device to a gateway. The battery life of the relayer is reduced to extend the battery life of the remote end device. An analysis server selects pairs of end devices that have a difference in battery levels above a threshold, and require less transmission energy from the remote end device to the relayer than to the gateway. Energy or path losses are estimated based on geographic locations of end devices and terrain or obstacles. Redundant pairs from a remote end device are eliminated by selecting the relayer requiring the lowest transmission energy. A new configuration is sent to the remote end device. New configurations with higher Spreading Factors (SF) compensate for pairs with larger path losses to the relayer.

The present relates to a node to be integrated in a network of wirelessly connected nodes, to a network system, to method for operating a node of a network, and to a method for communicating within a network. A method is disclosed for communicating within a network of cooperatively synchronized nodes, configured to broadcast data packets to the network during broadcast phases through a flooding mechanism, each data packet comprising hop data. The method comprises, for each broadcast phase, broadcasting a data packet from a source node during a predetermined time slot; and receiving the data packet at one or more destination node during said predetermined time slot. The broadcasting and receiving are repeated according to the hop data, at respective predetermined time slots, wherein each destination node corresponds to a source node in a next execution of broadcasting and the data packet received corresponds substantially to the data packet to be broadcasted in the next repetition.

Optimizing mobile network traffic coordination across multiple applications running on a mobile device

A mobile device allows transmission of additional outgoing application data requests in response to occurrence of receipt of data transfer from a remote entity, user input in response to a prompt displayed to the user, and a change in a background status of an application executing on the mobile device. Additional outgoing application data requests are foreground application requests.

DEVICES, SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR LOW LATENCY DATA TRANSMISSION IN WIRELESS NETWORK

Embodiments can include a method in which a transmission duration for data frames to a plurality of different receiving devices is determined by a transmitting device. The transmission duration can include at least interframe spacings that separate the data frames from one another. The transmitting device can transmit a control message over a medium to reserve the medium for the transmission duration. The data frames can then be sequentially transmitted by the transmitting device to the plurality of receiving devices during the transmission duration. The transmitting device can operate according to a contention based protocol. Related devices and systems are also disclosed.

Use of target wake time to reduce delivery traffic indication message multicast
11184849 · 2021-11-23 · ·

Presented herein are methodologies for handling multicast traffic that is transmitted to mobile devices in a given basic service set (BSS). The methodology includes detecting membership of clients in an Internet Protocol (IP) multicast group in a basic service set of a wireless network; determining whether the IP multicast group and its associated multicast traffic meet predetermined criteria; when the IP multicast group and its associated multicast traffic meet the predetermined criteria, negotiating with each client in the IP multicast group to have a target wake time (TWT) that includes, at least, a coincident overlap window of sufficient duration to transmit the multicast traffic associated with the IP multicast group; and transmitting the multicast traffic associated with the IP multicast group during the coincident overlap window, wherein the coincident overlap window is different from a delivery traffic indication message (DTIM) service period.

PREVENTING PEAK CURRENT DRAW IN A WIRELESS DEVICE

Preventing peak current draw in a wireless device. In an embodiment, a data payload to be transmitted is segmented into data payload segment(s) based on the data payload size and a peak current rating of the wireless device's battery, such that each data payload segment has a segment size which is estimated to result, during transmission of the data payload segment, in a maximum current draw from the battery that is less than the peak current rating of the battery. Then, each data payload segment is transmitted, such that the transmission of one data payload segment does not overlap with the transmission of any other data payload segment.

Multicast/broadcast service continuity in multi-carrier networks

Embodiments of the present disclosure describe devices, methods, computer-readable media and systems configurations for management and/or support of multimedia broadcast multicast service (MBMS) service in a wireless communications network. An evolved Node B (eNB) may transmit MBMS assistance information to a user equipment (UE). The MBMS assistance information may identify a carrier by which one or more upcoming MBMS services are to be provided and an indicator of a carrier selection mode to be used by the UE. The UE may transmit an MBMS interest indication message including information related to one or more targeted MBMS services which the UE wants to receive.

SECONDARY CELL GROUP ACTIVATION BY BANDWIDTH PART FOR DUAL CONNECTIVITY WITH MULTIPLE RADIO ACCESS TECHNOLOGIES

Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may operate, in connection with a secondary cell group (SCG) for multiple radio access technology dual connectivity, in one of an SCG dormant state in a dormant downlink bandwidth part (BWP) configured for a primary secondary cell of the SCG or an SCG enhanced dormant state in an enhanced dormant downlink BWP configured for the primary secondary cell. The UE may receive a control message associated with activating the SCG for the UE, the control message indicating a BWP switch for the UE. The UE may switch, in connection with receiving the control message, from one of the dormant downlink BWP or the enhanced dormant downlink BWP to an activated downlink BWP in which the UE operates in an SCG activated state. Numerous other aspects are provided.
