A fixing device includes a heater, a switching element, a zero-cross detecting portion, a controller, a power source, a driving portion. In a case that an amount of electric charge charged in the power source is predetermined value or more, the controller outputs a first signal to the driving portion so that a time in which a current is passed from the power source to the switching element is a first time. In a case that the amount of the electric charge is less than the predetermined value, the controller outputs a second signal to the driving portion so that the time in which the current is passed from the power source to the switching element is a second time shorter than the first time.

A sheet conveyor includes a heating device to heat a recording medium and a recording medium sensor to detect the recording medium. The heating device includes a heater, a first temperature sensor to detect a temperature of the heater, and a second temperature sensor to detect the temperature of the heater. The heater has a first heat-distribution amount region on one side and a second heat-distribution amount region on the other side, in a conveyance orthogonal direction with respect to a reference position. The first heat-distribution amount region is greater in heat distribution amount than the second heat-distribution amount region. The first temperature sensor is disposed farther from the reference position than the second temperature sensor in the conveyance orthogonal direction. The first temperature sensor is disposed in the second heat-distribution amount region. The recording medium sensor is disposed in the first heat-distribution amount region.

Provided is an image forming apparatus including a temperature sensing circuit to which a temperature sensing element is electrically connected, wherein a surface of a heater on a side where the temperature sensing element is provided is in contact with the inner surface of a film, a heating element is provided in a primary side circuit which is electrically connected to a commercial power supply, and the temperature sensing circuit is electrically insulated from both of the primary side circuit and a secondary side circuit which is electrically insulated from the primary side circuit.

The control portion is configured to obtain a correction value based on a difference between a first period in which the first detection signal is input to the control portion and a second period in which the second detection signal is input to the control portion and to correct a timing of switching between the first energization signal and the second energization signal with the correction value.

A fuser, having a heater in a form of a planar plate and a holder supporting the heater, is provided. The heater has a first face and a second face opposite to the first face. The holder has a supporting base supporting the first face of the heater, a side wall protruding from the supporting base, a first contact portion, and a second contact portion. The first contact portion is located in an end area on one side in a lengthwise direction of the holder. The first contact portion protrudes from the side wall and contacts the second face of the heater. The second contact portion is located apart from the first contact portion in the lengthwise direction in an end area on the other side of the holder in the lengthwise direction. The second contact portion protrudes from the side wall and contacts the second face of the heater.
