A dose unit including at least one isolated bioactive agent applied on a carrier material in thermal contact with an electrically heating element configured to vaporize a pre-determined amount of the agent for pulmonary delivery thereof is provided herein, as well as devices for effecting vaporization and pulmonary delivery of the isolated agent, and methods for preparing the dose unit, controllably releasing the agent therefrom, methods for pulmonary delivery thereof and methods of treatment of medical conditions treatable by pulmonary delivery of the isolated bioactive agent.
Methods for heating a reservoir unit in a dialysis system
The specification discloses a portable dialysis machine having a detachable controller unit and base unit with an improved reservoir heating system. The controller unit includes a door having an interior face, a housing with a panel, where the housing and panel define a recessed region configured to receive the interior face of the door, and a manifold receiver fixedly attached to the panel. The base unit has a reservoir with an internal pan and external pan, separated by a space that holds a heating element. The heating element is electrically coupled to electrical contacts attached to the external surface of the external pan.
Sensing for respiratory circuits
Some embodiments provide a breathing assistance apparatus comprising a conduit for conveying gases therein, the conduit comprising circuitry. The circuitry may comprise at least one heater wire part to heat gases in the conduit, in use, and at least one sensor wire part comprising at least one sensor for monitoring a parameter of the gases in the conduit. There is also provided a controller to control provision of AC power or AC voltage to the heater wire part; and control selective reading of the sensor. The controller may be configured to read the sensor at or about a particular portion of the AC power waveform provided to the heater wire part.
APPARATUSES AND METHODS FOR SEQUENTIAL HEATING OF CRYO-FLUID IN CRYOABLATION SYSTEMS
A system for performing a cryoablation treatment may include at least one computing device configured to obtain temperature information at a plurality of heating locations on a cryo-fluid supply. The plurality of heating locations includes a first heating location and a second heating location. The computing device is also configured to compare a first temperature at the first heating location to an expected first temperature and to initiate a first heating cycle at the first heating location if the first temperature at the first heating location is less than the expected first temperature. The computing device also compares a second temperature at the second heating location to an expected second temperature wherein the second heating location disposed downstream of the first heating location and initiates a second heating cycle at the second heating location if the second temperature is less than the expected second temperature.
PATHOGEN-INACTIVATING FACIAL MASK
A facial mask having pathogen inactivation capabilities is disclosed. One embodiment comprises a mask and a pathogen inactivation system coupled to the mask. The pathogen inactivation system is configured to heat and inactivate bacteria and viruses.
DRY HEAT THAWING OF BIOLOGICAL SUBSTANCES
A device for dry thawing biological substances and methods for using the same are provided. The dry thawing device can be configured to receive a biological substance within a woven pocket. The woven pocket can include temperature sensors configured to measure a temperature of the interior volume and heating elements configured to heat an interior of the woven pocket 106 based upon the measured temperature to avoid overheating or underheating the biological substance during thawing. The woven pocket can also include mechanical vibrators configured to agitate the biological substance during thawing to achieve an approximately homogeneous temperature profile within the woven pocket.
WATER OUT ALARM
The present invention provides for an improved method of determining a water out condition in a humidified gases supply apparatus. The method includes a two step process including a primary determination of a water out condition and a secondary determination of a water out condition. This primary determination is made during observation of the normal operation of the apparatus. During the secondary determination the method takes temporary control over the humidifying part of the apparatus. The secondary determination confirms or contradicts the primary determination.
HEATING AND HUMIDIFYING DEVICE AND HEATING AND HUMIDIFYING METHOD THEREOF
A heating and humidifying device and a heating and humidifying method. The heating and humidifying device comprises a housing (1), a water tank atomizing set, a steam generator, a heating breathing pipeline, and a controller. A tank body (11) of the water tank atomizing set is buckled with a plurality of elastic pieces (5) in the housing by means of buckling strips on the outer side wall of the water tank atomizing set; the steam generator is snap fit with grooves (8) on the two sides of the housing (1) by means of the buckling pieces (29) on the two sides; a mist outlet (13) on the tank body (11) of the water tank atomizing set is connected to a connector (38) of the steam generator; a gas outlet (28) on the steam generator is connected to the heating breathing pipeline. The heating and humidifying method comprises the steps of: (1) water injecting atomization; (2) water mist gasifying; and (3) heat insulating and gas exhausting.
Medical sharp removal and storage device
An apparatus for entirely removing a medical sharp from a holder to which it is connected, including a body (102), a heating unit (104) disposed in the body, a receiving unit (114) fixedly disposed in the body and configured to receive the holder, and a collet (122) movably disposed within the body and configured to receive the medical sharp. The apparatus also includes a first biasing member (130) disposed within the body, and a user interface (136) coupled to the collet and configured to displace the collet away from the receiving unit, actuate the first biasing member to increase a bias on the collet toward the receiving unit, and actuate the heating unit.
