The heater can thus be installed on a wall with direct connection to the local power supply network, in particular under plaster.

Benches and seats can be heated to provide comfortable heated seating. A heated surface in the radiant furniture includes a conductive heating element that has a plurality of non-overlapping runs, with a density of the heating element runs being greater near the edges than at an interior part of the heated surface. A controller senses the temperature of the furniture and the ambient temperature, then applies power to one or more heating elements in the furniture according to programmed temperature thresholds to provide comfortable radiant heat from the furniture.

In one illustrative embodiment, a sauna may be provided having adjustable IR emitters to emit IR at any wavelength resulting in a desirable radiation treatment for the sauna user. In another illustrative embodiment, a method is provided for tuning IR emitters in a sauna.

A networked speaker device includes a sealed housing and an Ethernet port in the housing for receiving power and audio data from a network router via an Ethernet cable. A power supply subsystem in the housing manages the power received at the Ethernet port. A microprocessor subsystem, powered by the power supply subsystem, receives and processes the audio data to generate output audio signals. A digital audio amplifier, powered by the power supply subsystem, amplifies the output audio signals to drive a speaker driver to render an audio output. The device also includes at least one heater resistor in the housing powered by the power supply subsystem. The at least one heater resistor is controlled by the microprocessor subsystem to automatically heat the interior of the housing when temperature inside the housing falls below a given temperature.

The heater control system may be configured to: receive information regarding an origin for the enclosure, a destination for the enclosure, and a desired destination temperature for the enclosure; establish a model for the enclosure, wherein the model incorporates data from the one or more environmental sensors and data from the position sensor; and based on the model, predictively determining control parameters for the heater configured to cause the enclosure to reach the desired destination temperature at or before a time of arrival at the destination.
