Transparent display systems and methods
A transparent display system includes a transparent display, a touch-sensitive layer, and a heater layer. The touch-sensitive layer is connected to the transparent display and is configured to detect a touch-based input to the transparent display. The heater layer is connected to the transparent display and includes a trace array and one or more electrodes operable to activate the trace array to generate heat to heat at least a portion of the transparent display based on the touch-based input.
Uniform Heat Distribution in Resistive Heaters For Anti-Icing and De-Icing
The concept of the present invention describes configurations to provide uniform heat distribution of resistive heaters. This configuration allows successful anti-icing and deicing with relatively low applied power. One aspect involves the use of a thin film heater applied just underneath the topcoat to efficiently direct all heat to the surface, allowing anti-icing and de-icing with minimal power. This can be accomplished by employing a hybrid electrode interface, using a metal foil or metal braid that is attached to the aircraft surface with a structural adhesive that has been smoothed along the edges with metal-filled adhesive. Another aspect of the present invention uses an array of heater cells created as a single sheet and a heat spreading material, provided underneath or overtop of the heater cells.
Electric heating pad
An electric heating pad for warming a patient. The electric heating pad may be a heated underbody support, heated mattress or heated mattress overlay. An embodiment of the heating pad includes a flexible sheet-like heating element including an upper edge, a lower edge, and at least two side edges. The heating pad may also include a shell covering the heating element and comprising at least two sheets of flexible material (e.g., two sheets may be one sheet folded over to form at least two sheets). The two sheets of flexible material may be coupled together about the edges of the heating element by a weld. The material of the two sheets may include urethane. In some embodiments, a catalyst to accelerate hydrogen peroxide decomposition is coated on or impregnated into an element within the shell, or on the interior surface of the shell.
Ice detector apparatus, system, and method
An ice detector apparatus for an aircraft includes a heater strip and a temperature sensor. The heater strip is configured to be mounted to an external surface of an aircraft and the temperature sensor is coupled to the heater strip. The temperature sensor is configured to detect a temperature profile of the heater strip, wherein the temperature profile is indicative of an extent of icing. The temperature profile may be indicative of whether the aircraft is operating in an appendix C icing-envelope or an appendix O icing-envelope. The temperature sensor may include a plurality of temperature sensors coupled along a length of the heater strip, such that the temperature profile comprises a spatial temperature map of the heater strip.
HEATING APPARATUS
A heating apparatus includes a body, a chamber, and a thermal plate. The chamber is defined by the body. The chamber includes an upper region and a lower region. The thermal plate provides heat to the chamber. The thermal plate includes a coating. The coating includes a thermo-resistive layer. The thermo-resistive layer includes a polymeric portion and a nanostructure portion. The thermal plate is positioned in at least one location chosen from the upper region and the lower region of the chamber.
Devices for vaporization of a substance
Devices for generating and releasing vapor. In particular, described herein are portable devices for generating a low-temperature inhalable vapor having an elongated tubular body containing a vaporization chamber and a battery-powered heater, a removable mouthpiece covering the vaporization chamber, a display configured to indicate the temperature of the vaporization chamber; a microcontroller configured to regulate the temperature of the vaporization chamber, and a control to select from among a variety of temperature settings.
Vaporizers with cartridges with open sided chamber
Disclosed herein are methods and systems to vaporize extract, plant material containing organic material and the like, including a removable carriage with a chamber having an annular wall with and an open side within the removable carriage. The chamber having at least one intake inlet fluidly connected with the chamber and at least one outlet configured to connect the chamber to an inhalation opening. The carriage fits into a base which includes a controller and power supply. The base provides at least two heating elements oriented to cover the open side of the chamber when the carriage is fully inserted, an insulator separating the two heating elements; and, two temperature sensors each one in thermal contact with a heating element and in signal communication with the controller.
PPTC heater and material having stable power and self-limiting behavior
A resistance heater may include a polymer positive temperature coefficient (PPTC) material, arranged in a ring shape that defines a heater body; and an electrode assembly, comprising two or more electrodes arranged in contact with the heater body at two or more locations, wherein PPTC material comprises: a polymer matrix, the polymer matrix defining a PPTC body; and a conductive filler component, disposed in the polymer matrix.
THERMAL DIFFUSER FOR A SEMICONDUCTOR WAFER HOLDER
A heating assembly includes a support member for supporting a target thereon, a diffuser layer attached to the support member, and a heater attached to the diffuser layer. The diffuser layer includes discrete diffuser segments separated by gaps. The discrete diffuser segments are made of the same material and are configured to allow a desired thermal gradient to be maintained between the discrete diffuser segments during heating of the target.
FIN ELEMENT FOR A HEAT EXCHANGER
