The apparatus comprises an induction coil for heating at least a portion of the object and an alternating current source electrically connected or selectively connectable to the induction coil. The apparatus further comprises a light sensor and a controller. The controller controls the time during which the object is heated by the induction coil based on detection, by the light sensor, of visible and/or near-visible infrared light emitted by the object.
