Load Control Device for High-Efficiency Loads
A two-wire load control device (such as, a dimmer switch) for controlling the amount of power delivered from an AC power source to an electrical load (such as, a high-efficiency lighting load) includes a thyristor coupled between the source and the load, a gate coupling circuit coupled between a first main load terminal and the gate of the thyristor, and a control circuit coupled to a control input of the gate coupling circuit. The control circuit generates a drive voltage for causing the gate coupling circuit to conduct a gate current to thus render the thyristor conductive at a firing time during a half cycle of the AC power source, and to allow the gate coupling circuit to conduct the gate current at any time from the firing time through approximately the remainder of the half cycle, where the gate coupling circuit conducts approximately no net average current to render and maintain the thyristor conductive.
Load Control Device for High-Efficiency Loads
A load control device for controlling the power delivered from an AC power source to an electrical load includes a thyristor, a gate coupling circuit for conducting a gate current through a gate of the thyristor, and a control circuit for controlling the gate coupling circuit to conduct the gate current through a first current path to render the thyristor conductive at a firing time during a half cycle. The gate coupling circuit is able to conduct the gate current through the first current path again after the firing time, but the gate current is not able to be conducted through the gate from a transition time before the end of the half-cycle until approximately the end of the half-cycle. The load current is able to be conducted through a second current path to the electrical load after the transition time until approximately the end of the half-cycle.
POWER SUPPLY FOR A TWO-WIRE SMART DIMMER AND LIGHTING LOADS THEREOF
The present invention refers to an Electrical Power System (EPS) or Power Supply for a smart dimmer for controlling the intensity of illumination of a dimmable lighting load within an electrical installation that has two or three wires in the switch box (two-wire and three-wire switches). The Power Supply is able to detect and control different types of lighting technologies, such as incandescent or LED bulbs. The Power Supply also provides a voltage signal indicating the current consumed by the lighting loads.

LED light fixture dimming apparatus
A microcontroller receives a LINE SYNC signal and a dimmer control voltage input and controls output switch timing of an output FET switch to generate a reverse phase PWM dimming signal for supply to associated LED driver apparatus.
LIGHT-DIMMING DEVICE
In a light-dimming device according to an example of the present invention, a controller is configured to be supplied with control electric power from an electricity accumulator to operate and to retain a bidirectional switch in an on state for an on time having a length according to a dimming level in every half period of an AC voltage of an AC power supply in a lighting mode. A charger including a first charger and a second charger causes a current to flow from a pair of input terminals and to the electricity accumulator. An impedance of the second charger which is a charger in a case of causing a current to flow to the electricity accumulator in the lighting mode is lower than an impedance of the first charger which is a charger in a case of causing a current to flow to the electricity accumulator in a non-lighting mode.
