There can be an optional enclosure connected to a suction source. The enclosure can have a flexible bladder that physically compresses the laminate.

High-speed interconnects for printed circuit boards and methods for forming the high-speed interconnects are described. A high-speed interconnect may comprise a region of a conductive film having a reduced surface roughness and one or more regions that have been treated for improved bonding with an adjacent insulating layer. Regions of reduced roughness may be used to carry high data rate signals within PCBs. Regions treated for bonding may include a roughened surface, adhesion-promoting chemical treatment, and/or material deposited to improve wettability of the surface and/or adhesion to a cured insulator.

An extremely thin copper foil is provided that enables formation of highly fine different wiring patterns with a line/space (L/S) of 10 μm or less/10 μm or less on two sides of the copper foil and is thus usable as an inexpensive and readily processable substitution for silicon and glass interposers. The extremely thin copper foil includes, in sequence, a first extremely thin copper layer, an etching stopper layer, and the second extremely thin copper layer. Two sides of the extremely thin copper foil each have an arithmetic average roughness Ra of 20 nm or less.
