Example implementations relate to a compute node having a chassis with front installed trays. The chassis includes a base, a pair of walls, each coupled to a peripheral side of the base, and a first top cover portion coupled to the pair of walls to cover a portion of the chassis. The compute node further includes a plurality of first latches coupled to a rear end inner surface of the first top cover portion. The plurality of trays is slidable from a front side of the chassis and at least one tray is fastened to at least one first latch. Each tray includes a front cover, a floor coupled to the front cover, a pair of brackets coupled to the floor, a pair of risers, where each riser is coupled to a respective bracket, and a pair of GPU card assemblies, where each GPU card assembly is plugged to a respective riser.

A computing and storage system includes a housing having power and cooling facility and a plurality of slots, each slot having interface connection. An interconnecting board is coupled to the interface connection of the plurality of slots. A plurality of baseboards are inserted, each in one of the slots wherein a board interface mates with the interface connection. All of the baseboards have the same form factor and the same board interface and each of the baseboards has a plurality of electronic devices, such that all of the electronic devices mounted onto one of the baseboards are the same. Using the interconnecting board, the various baseboards can be interconnected to form a computing and/or storage machine of different operational characteristics as required by a given task. In addition, the inter connection board is managed to adjust the networking resource allocations for different traffic characteristics and workload requirements.

Each connector slot is configured to receive a corresponding connector of a different one of multiple cards. When the locking mechanism is in an unlocked position, a different one of the cards is inserted within a different one of the connector slots. When the locking mechanism is in a locked position, the locking mechanism is placed in physical communication with each of the cards to securely hold the cards within the card riser.
