A cleaning head connectable to a vacuum cleaner comprises a cassette removeably mountable on the cleaning head. A rotatable bar has projecting cleaning elements engageable with a surface to be cleaned and the rotatable bar is removeably mountable in the cassette. A first cassette mounting assembly is coupled to the rotatable bar at a first end with a first spindle. A second cassette mounting assembly is coupled to the rotatable bar at a second end with a second spindle. The first and second cassette mounting assemblies have removable cover portions for shielding the first and second spindles from debris and the first cassette mounting assembly is rotatably coupled to and removable with the first spindle.

Surface cleaning head including removable rotatable driven agitator

A surface cleaning head includes a removable rotatable driven agitator, such as a brush roll, which is driven by a drive mechanism that axially engages the driven end. The removable rotatable driven agitator may be located in an openable agitator chamber for purposes of removing debris and/or removing the agitator. The openable agitator chamber may be covered by an external cover that is movable between an open position and a closed position. The removable agitator may be secured in the agitator chamber by the external cover. Different removable agitators with different characteristics may be used interchangeably in the surface cleaning head. The surface cleaning head may also include one or more transparent regions (e.g., on the openable cover) to allow visual inspection of the agitator during use.

FLOOR TOOL

A floor tool for an apparatus for cleaning a floor surface includes a source of suction. The floor tool includes a housing having an interior surface that defines a chamber for receiving at least a portion of a cleaning member. The housing includes a chamber inlet for receiving dirty air, and a chamber outlet for communication with the suction source. The housing is formed of at least two housing portions which provide said interior surface and all of said housing portions are permanently connected or permanently joined to each other.

APPARATUS FOR CLEANING A FLOOR SURFACE

An apparatus for cleaning a floor surface including an upright part having a user graspable handle and a base assembly including a first base part connected to the upright part and a second base part connected to the first base part. The second base part includes a cleaning member. The apparatus further includes a device for effecting movement of the first and second base parts relative to each other. The device effects movement of the second base part between respective first and second conditions and the second base part has a first passage with a respective inlet and a second passage with a respective inlet. When the second base part is in its second condition the inlet of the second passage is positioned closer to a floor surface than it is positioned when the second base part is in its first condition.

A brush vacuum cleaner having a safety shutdown of the drive via an overload brush roller torque detection. A mechanical triggering element via transmission elements actuates an electrical switch for the main switch to shut down the drive above a torque threshold. The switch is additionally connected in parallel by an external actuating element to an on and off position by a spring-loaded control element and a coupling element. Due to the control element, switching the switch into an off position due to overload is transmitted to the actuating element that can be adjusted into an off position. The control element is spring held in the on position in an arrangement for the engagement of the control element, where an unlocking can be set as off position by adjustment of the control element via the actuating element against the spring pressure.

Vacuum suction base device with swivel coupling having electric motor inside a wheel and gaps for visibility

The principles and embodiments of the presently claimed invention relate to steerable, light-weight, low-profile suction bases for upright cleaning apparatuses that utilize a smaller suction base body to reduce weight and bulk, while still providing sufficient room for an internally mounted brush roll motor and controller PCB, plus additional mechanical and electrical components in the suction base.
