X-RAY SYSTEMS AND METHODS INCLUDING X-RAY ANODES WITH GRADIENT PROFILES
An anode for an X-ray tube can include one or more of an yttrium-oxide derivative, titanium diboride, boron carbide, titanium suboxide, reaction-bonded silicon carbide, and reaction-bonded silicon nitride. Upon collision with an anode, the kinetic energy of an electron beam in an X-ray tube is converted to high-frequency electromagnetic waves, i.e., X-rays. An anode from one or more of the above materials and a gradient distribution of conductive metals can reduce costs and/or weight, extend the life of the anode or associated components (e.g., bearings) and simultaneously provide a higher heat storage capacity as compared to traditional molybdenum and tungsten anodes.
Rotatable anode target for X-ray tube, X-ray tube, and X-ray inspection apparatus
A rotatable anode target for an X-ray tube (1) of the present invention includes a metallic disc (2) which includes a first crystal structure; a metallic cylinder (3) which is joined with the metallic disc and includes a second crystal structure, where a first average aspect ratio of first crystal grains positioning at a first region within 2 mm from an interface between the metallic disc and the metallic cylinder is less than 2, and a second average aspect ratio of second crystal grains positioning at a second region within 2 mm from the interface is 2 or more and 8 or less. It is thereby possible to provide an X-ray tube target which has high heat release performance and where thermal deformation is difficult to occur.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR X-RAY IMAGING
A system and method for generating X-rays are disclosed. The method may include emitting an electron beam from a cathode to a focal track of a rotating target. The method may further include deflecting the electron beam onto a first region of the focal track at a first time, and deflecting the electron beam onto a second region of the focal track at a second time. The first region of the focal track may be separated from the second region of the focal track. The method may further include generating X-rays in response to the electron beam deflected onto the first region of the focal track or onto the second region of the focal track.
X-RAY SOURCE TARGET
In one embodiment, an X-ray source includes a source target configured to generate X-rays when impacted by an electron beam. The source target includes one or more thermally conductive layers; and one or more X-ray generating layers interleaved with the thermally conductive layers, wherein at least one X-ray generating layer comprises regions of X-ray generating material separated by thermally conductive material within the respective X-ray generating layer.
Rotating anode and method for producing a rotating anode
The present invention relates to a rotating anode (100) comprising: an outer ring compound (6) comprising a first carbon material with a first material property and carbon fibers substantially aligned to a contour of the outer ring compound (6), wherein the outer ring compound (6) is configured to mechanically stabilize the rotating anode (100); an intermediate ring compound (5) comprising a second carbon material with a second material property differing from the first material property; a inner disc compound (2) comprising a layered fiber structure and a third carbon material with a third material property differing from the first and the second material property, wherein the inner disc compound (2) and the intermediate ring compound (5) are configured to provide a thermally conductive interface between the intermediate ring compound (5) and the inner disc compound (2); and an interface compound (3) comprising a metallic or a semi-metallic material, wherein the interface compound is coupled to the intermediate ring compound (5) and the inner disc compound (2).
HEAT SINK FOR X-RAY TUBE ANODE
Disclosed is an X-ray tube having an electron source and anode disposed therein. The anode includes a target surface positioned to receive electrons emitted by the electron source. A thermal structure is interfaced directly with the anode. The thermal structure defines a fluid passageway that is configured to receive and circulate a coolant. A thermally conductive porous matrix is disposed within the fluid passageway so as to facilitate the transfer of heat generated at the target surface to the coolant.
MULTILAYER X-RAY SOURCE TARGET
The present disclosure relates to the production and use of a multi-layer X-ray source target. In certain implementations, layers of X-ray generating material may be interleaved with thermally conductive layers. To prevent delamination of the layers, various mechanical, chemical, and structural approaches are related, including approaches for reducing the internal stress associated with the deposited layers and for increasing binding strength between layers.
