Devices and methods for providing surgical access

Adjustable-length surgical access devices are disclosed herein, which can advantageously allow an overall length of the access device to be quickly and easily changed by the user. The access devices herein can reduce or eliminate the need to maintain an inventory of many different length access devices. In some embodiments, the length of the access device can be adjusted while the access device is inserted into the patient. This can reduce or eliminate the need to swap in and out several different access devices before arriving at an optimal length access device. This can also reduce or eliminate the need to change the access device that is inserted into a patient as the depth at which a surgical step is performed changes over the course of a procedure. Rather, the length of the access device can be adjusted in situ and on-the-fly as needed or desired to accommodate different surgical depths.

An endoscope conduit switching device includes: an attachment to be attached to an endoscope; a movable spring bearing that is movably held by the attachment and that has a rib that is cylindrical; a movable piston that has a rib receiver groove into which the rib is inserted and that is movable to be inserted into and removed from a conduit of the endoscope; and a shaft that is movably held by the movable spring bearing; a cap that is fixed to one end of the shaft; and a first coil spring configured to bias the movable spring bearing and the cap in directions away from each other, wherein a side surface of the rib of the movable spring bearing and a side surface of the rib receiver groove of the movable piston are at least partly joined with each other.

Tip part assembly for an endoscope
11806904 · 2023-11-07 · ·

A method of manufacture of a tip part assembly for an endoscope, including: providing a bending section; providing a camera assembly including a camera module and a circuit board positioned at the proximal end of the assembly; providing a cup-shaped housing defining a distal end of the manufactured tip part assembly and including a circumferential wall extending between proximal and distal ends of the housing and a distal end wall positioned at the distal end of the housing, the circumferential wall and the distal end wall enclosing a spacing; inserting the camera assembly through the open proximal end of the housing so that the camera assembly is at least partly positioned within the spacing; and filling a liquid adhesive into the spacing through the open proximal end of the housing so that the camera assembly is at least partly embedded in the adhesive.

MEDICAL DEVICE AND METHODS OF USE

The present disclosure is directed to a medical device. Systems and methods are provided for utilizing a laser to break a kidney stones into smaller fragments and/or dust, and removing particles, stone fragments and/or stone dust from a patient. The medical device may include a delivery device including a tube, and an elongate member having a distal end, a proximal end, and a lumen extending between the proximal end and the distal end, wherein the elongate member is configured to move axially relative to the tube and apply suction through the distal end.

Combined Mirror Holder and Suction Device
20230346210 · 2023-11-02 ·

A multi-purpose dental tool for simultaneous fluid evacuation and mirror support. An elongated tool body with a hollow longitudinal passage has a hose connector at a proximal end, and suctions ports near an opposing distal end. The distal end features a concavely arcuate seating edge in a plane of oblique relation to the body's longitudinal axis for seated placement of a mirrored tip of a replaceable minor head. A receiving cavity situated on an underside of the tool body near the distal end receives a stem of the mirror head. An enlarged gripping portion resides near a control valve of the tool, and the hose connector swivels to prevent hose kinking. Two primary suction ports are provided in a concave topside of the tool body at a flared region approaching the seating edge. Two smaller slot-shaped secondary ports penetrate the underside of the tool body near the seating edge.

FENESTRATED SUCTION RETRACTOR
20230337896 · 2023-10-26 ·

A tongue blade (retractor) with fenestrated suction ports along the length of the blade to remove (suction) smoke, fluid and/or particulate from the oral cavity during surgery (e.g. tonsillectomy, adenoidectomy, oral cavity/tongue/airway procedures). This blade can connect to routine mouth retractors and commonly available suction tubing. It has a groove along the length of the blade to accommodate endotracheal tubes for stabilization and to minimize pressure against the tongue during retraction.

Surgical access port stabilization

Surgical access port stabilization systems and methods are described herein. Such systems and methods can be employed to provide ipsilateral stabilization of a surgical access port, e.g., during spinal surgeries. In one embodiment, a surgical system can include an access port configured for percutaneous insertion into a patient to define a channel to a surgical site and an anchor configured for insertion into the patient's bone. Further, the access port can be coupled to the anchor such that a longitudinal axis of the access port and a longitudinal axis of the anchor are non-coaxial. With such a system, a surgeon or other user can access a surgical site through the access port without the need for external or other stabilization of the access port, but can instead position the access port relative to an anchor already placed in the patient's body.

QUICK CONNECT SUB-ASSEMBLIES FOR SCOPES

An assembly can include a first component having at least one drainage channel and at least one fluid channel. The assembly can also include a second component having at least one drainage channel and at least one fluid channel. The assembly can also include a quick-connect coupling. The quick-connect coupling can be configured to couple the first component and the second component, fluidically connect the at least one drainage channel of the first component to the at least one drainage channel of the second component, and fluidically connect the at least one fluid channel of the first component to the at least one fluid channel of the second component.

Endoscopic suture cinch

A method cinches a suture. The method provides a cinch having a suture capturing portion configured to capture a suture, a cinch lock coupled with the suture capturing portion, and a cinch anchor having a lumen. The suture capturing portion is extended out of the lumen to capture the suture. The suture is captured by the suture capturing portion. The suture capturing portion is retracted into the lumen of the cinch anchor. The suture is cinched between the cinch lock and the cinch anchor.
