An elongated access device used in a medical system. The elongated access device slidably receives a medical tool and an ultrasound probe. The elongated access device includes a sheath and an intraluminal tip attached to the distal end of the sheath. The intraluminal tip includes ramp and nose donuts being spaced apart from one another and configured to be attached to one or more elongated sleeves. One or more orientation pins are engaged with the respective ramp and nose donuts and may be anchored within the sheath. The medical tool is engaged with a ramp formed in the ramp donut or a ramp received within the ramp donut. The ultrasound probe is configured to engage with the intraluminal tip so as to ensure that the medical tool directionality is oriented toward a target during a procedure.

A medical system including: an instrument having a motion that is electrically driven, the motion being forward and backward movement of an insertion section, a bending angle of a bending section of the insertion section, and/or rolling rotation of the insertion section; an operation device performing an operation input of the motion; and a processor. The processor controlling the motion based on the operation input in a motion mode, the motion mode being one of a full auto mode to perform automatic control of the motion and a semi auto mode in which an operator manually controls the motion. When controlling the motion in the semi auto mode, the processor interrupting the semi auto mode by automatic control of the motion to perform intervention, Subsequent to the intervention, the processor switching to one of the full auto mode and the semi auto mode based on a use of the instrument.

INFORMATION PROCESSING SYSTEM, MEDICAL SYSTEM AND CANNULATION METHOD

An information processing system, including a processor comprising hardware. The processor being configured to: acquire an endoscope image from an endoscope, the endoscope image showing a papillary portion, determine route information of a lumen based on the endoscope image, the lumen being at least one of a biliary duct or a pancreatic duct, generate a display image based on a result of the determination of the route information of the lumen, the display image having a route guide image to provide guidance of a route of the lumen leading to the papillary portion superimposed on the endoscope image, and display the display image on a display.

COMPACT MULTI-VIEWING ELEMENT ENDOSCOPE SYSTEM

The present specification is directed towards endoscopes, such as colonoscopes, that provide a broader field of view and allow extended access of surgical tools and also enable efficient packing of all necessary elements in the tip section, while maintaining their functionality. Also described are methods and systems for capturing and displaying still and video images using an endoscope corresponding to a left-side looking, a front-looking and a right-side looking viewing element of an endoscopic tip generated in a native aspect ratio.

MEDICAL SYSTEM AND CANNULATION METHOD

A medical system including an endoscope configured to electrically drive an endoscopic operation. The endoscopic operation includes at least one of a forward and backward movement of an insertion section, a bending angle of a bending section of the insertion section, and a rolling rotation of the insertion section, the endoscope being configured to capture an endoscope image. The medical system further includes a processor comprising hardware. The processor is configured to control the endoscopic operation to achieve a second positioning subsequent to a first positioning, the first positioning being where the insertion section is positioned with respect to a papillary portion of a duodenum, the second positioning positions a distal end section of the insertion section with respect to a papillary portion of the duodenum based on the endoscope image.

A cannulation method includes inserting an endoscope into a duodenum, bringing a distal end section of the endoscope to a position where a duodenal papilla is within a field of view of the endoscope, promoting secretion of pancreatic juice or bile by administering a drainage stimulant, determining an amount of relaxation of the duodenal papilla, and performing cannulation into a biliary duct through the duodenal papilla where the amount of relaxation is greater than a predetermined amount.

A coil structure used in an endoscope includes a coil tube formed by densely winding a wire rod, both ends of the coil tube being fixed, a first contact surface formed on one surface of the wire rod on a distal end side, and a second contact surface formed on the other surface of the wire rod on a proximal end side, the first contact surface coming into contact with the second contact surface. The first contact surface is formed as a convex curved surface arcuate in cross section, a curvature center of which is located further on an inner side than an outer circumferential portion of the coil tube. For the convex curved surface, a curvature radius larger than a radius of the coil tube and smaller than a curvature radius during maximum bending of an insertion section is set.

An endoscope cleansing accessory is described for use with an automatic endoscope reprocessing (AER) apparatus which utilizes the motive force provided by a flowing cleansing fluid already within the AER to actuate an actuator wheel of the endoscope during the cleansing process. The movement or actuation of the actuator wheel during cleansing in turn imparts a back and forth motion to an elevator platform or forceps raiser within the endoscope to loosen tissue and other particles that are then flushed out by the flowing cleansing fluid.
