Systems, Methods, and Devices for Detection and Diagnosis of Brain Trauma, Mental Impairment, or Physical Disability

Systems, devices, and methods are disclosed which may be used to detect and determine the extent of brain trauma, mental impairment, physical disability, or other brain dysfunction by tracking one or more ocular responses.

USING INFRARED TO DETECT PROPER EYE ALIGNMENT BEFORE CAPTURING RETINAL IMAGES

Systems and methods are disclosed herein for detecting eye alignment during retinal imaging. In an embodiment, the system receives an infrared stream from an imaging device, the infrared stream showing characteristics of an eye of a patient. The system determines, based on the infrared stream, that the eye is improperly aligned at a first time, and outputs sensory feedback indicative of the improper alignment. The system detects, based on the infrared stream at a second time later than the first time, that the eye is properly aligned, and receives an image of a retina of the properly aligned eye from the imaging device.

A multispectral or hyperspectral ocular surface evaluating device is disclosed, comprising an illumination projector, which comprises a broadband illumination source panel and a polarizing structure to illuminate an ocular surface and adjacent structures of an eye and project a pattern on the ocular surface; an imaging system to form images; a detection system to record the images with a plurality of spectral channels in visible and near infrared spectra; and a computer to display and analyze the images. Also disclosed is a method of evaluating ocular surface health using a multispectral or hyperspectral ocular surface evaluating device, which comprises illuminating an ocular surface and adjacent structures of an eye with polarized light from an illumination projector; forming images with the imaging system; recording images formed on the detection system; digitally processing the recorded images; and analyzing the recorded images to evaluate ocular surface health with the computer.

Obtaining and displaying histogram and/or confidence of intra-operative refraction and/or IOL power recommendation

In order to take advantage of the real time nature of intra-operative refraction or wavefront aberrometry, and visually make the history of the measurements apparent to a surgeon, a histogram of frequency vs IOL results calculated from an IOL formula is computed and IOL suggestions being accumulated are displayed in a histogram. One embodiment is a means to present to a surgeon a histogram of intra-operative refractions. Another embodiment is to automatically and intra-operatively detect the aphakic phase of a cataract surgery to display a histogram of a recommended IOL power.

System and method for multi-scale closed-loop eye tracking with real-time image montaging
09775515 · 2017-10-03 · ·

A system for multi-scale closed-loop eye tracking to compensate for translation and rotation motion while imaging in vivo a surface area of an internal structure of an eye of a subject includes a narrow field imaging device optically coupled to an optical path to receive light reflected from the surface area of the structure of the eye. A wide field camera is optically coupled to the optical path by a beam splitter disposed in the optical path. A tracking mirror is disposed in the optical path between the beam splitter and the structure of the eye. A control process algorithm actively compensates substantially in real time for both translational and rotational movements of the eye. A system where a torsional correction device causes a rotating movement of a subject's head and a method for multi-scale closed-loop eye tracking are also described.
