Method for stopping fuel cell system and fuel cell system

A method for stopping a fuel cell system includes supplying a fuel gas containing a fuel to an anode of a fuel cell which is to generate electric power. An oxidant gas containing an oxidant is supplied to a cathode of the fuel cell. A concentration of the oxidant gas in the cathode is reduced. An output voltage of the fuel cell is lowered while a slope of a change in the output voltage with respect to elapsed time is controlled such that an output current of the fuel cell has a predetermined relationship with a predetermined current reference value.

Regeneration of molten carbonate fuel cells for deep CO.SUB.2 .capture

Systems and methods are provided for operating molten carbonate fuel cells to allow for periodic regeneration of the fuel cells while performing elevated CO.sub.2 capture. In some aspects, periodic regeneration can be achieved by shifting the location within the fuel cells where the highest density of alternative ion transport is occurring. Such a shift can result in a new location having a highest density of alternative ion transport, while the previous location can primarily transport carbonate ions. Additionally or alternately, periodic regeneration can be performed by modifying the input flows to the fuel cell and/or relaxing the operating conditions of the fuel cell to reduce or minimize the amount of alternative ion transport.

A fuel cell system with a plurality of fuel cell modules connected to form a fuel cell group having first and second electrical supply terminals that terminate to an electrical load; a measuring device connected to the fuel cell modules that measures a load current of the respective fuel cell modules; and a controller that detects a respective operating state of the fuel cell modules. The controller is connected to and controls operation of the fuel cell modules, and detects whether the operating state is in a respective partial load range of the respective fuel cell module. The controller provides a load current demanded by the load in a first partial-load operating mode of the load by operating all fuel cell modules of the fuel cell group such that all of the fuel cell modules are within the respective partial load range of the respective fuel cell module.

FUEL CELL SYSTEM

A fuel cell system 1 includes a fuel cell FC having a plurality of fuel battery cells, a control unit Cnt configured to control power generation of the fuel cell FC, a power storage apparatus S, and a DCDC converter Cnv. The control unit Cnt makes the voltage of the fuel cell FC higher than the voltage of the power storage apparatus S when the power generation by the fuel cell FC is stopped and makes the power generated in the fuel cell FC when the power generation by the fuel cell FC is stopped chargeable to the power storage apparatus S through a first path having diodes D1, D3, D5.

REDOX FLOW BATTERY WITH FLOATING POWER MODULE UNDER IMBALANCED CHARGE CONDITIONS

The present disclosure is directed, in certain embodiments, to a flow cell battery system. A battery management system detects that a first power module and a second power module located adjacent to the first power module are operating at different states of charge. After determining that the second power module is at the lower state of charge than the first power module, a negative-side switch associated with the second power module is adjusted to an open position, thereby preventing flow of electrical current from a negative terminal of the second power module to electrical ground.
