Header assembly for a harvester with a secondary cutting and processing mechanism

A header assembly for a harvesting machine comprising a primary cutter head for cutting the crop, and a feeder for feeding the cut crop into the mouth of a crop processing mechanism. The assembly further comprises a secondary scissor-action cutter head trailing behind the primary cutter head for cutting stalks left behind by the primary cutter head, the secondary cutter head coupled to the rear of the header and supported by ground engaging rollers. The rollers include at least one support cylinder having a circumferentially discontinuous ground engaging outer surface operative to perform a preliminary processing of at least one of the crop residue and the soil.

The present invention is a harvester header attachment designed to slice crop residue and till soil as a harvester is harvesting a field of crops. The present invention is a series of tillage devices attached to the bottom side of a harvester's header. As the harvester moves through a field of crops, the tillage devices spin on a bearing and cut into the crop's stalks, leaves, and root balls, tilling the standing crop residue. The present inventions will have down pressure from the weight of the harvester's header causing them to cut into the soil profile a couple of inches. This will allow the present invention to act as a tillage tool. With both the crop residue being punctured and the soil being tilled, the present invention will incorporate the soil with the crop residue and have many benefits for farmers' fields and equipment.

A strap-on aerator wheel comprises two or more curved pieces having metal spikes protruding outwardly from an outside surface, a first strap end fixed to a first end of a first curved piece and a second strap end fixed to a second end of a last curved piece, a linking mechanism joining each second end of a curved piece to a first end of a next curved piece not already fixed to a first or second strap end wherein when the first and second strap ends are joined, the two or more curved pieces form a circular shape and wherein each linking mechanism is configured to be adjusted to conform to the diameter of the wheel wherein the circular shape is held onto the wheel and wherein the metal spikes are configured to aerate a lawn as the wheel is moved over the lawn.

Seedbed preparation method and mechanism

A seedbed preparation and planting machine includes a cutting assembly including powered forward cutting blades for chopping crop residue. A cutting disc assembly follows the cutting assembly effective for forming a seedbed trench at a seed planting depth. A seed assembly follows the cutting disc assembly including a seed hopper and a seed tube located to drop seed into the seedbed trench. A packer assembly tamps down seed in the seedbed trench for covering seed therein.
