Connector assemblies that may be used to connect a cable to one or more contact tails of an electrical connector are disclosed. Some connector assemblies may include a wire extending from a cable and attached to an edge of a contact tail of a signal conductor. At least a portion of the wire may be flattened to form a planar surface that is attached to a corresponding planar surface of the edge of the contact tail. Moreover, some connector assemblies may include a wire extending from a cable that is attached to an edge of a contact tail via a metallurgical bond extending along at least a portion of an attachment interface between the wire and the contact tail.

A cable card assembly for an electrical connector includes a circuit card having upper and lower surfaces and extending between a cable end and a mating end with mating conductors at the mating end and cable conductors at the cable end. Cables are terminated to the circuit card that include signal conductors, ground shields surrounding the corresponding signal conductors, and drain wires electrically connected to the corresponding ground shields. The signal conductors are terminated to corresponding cable conductors. The cable card assembly includes a ground block separate and discrete from the circuit card and coupled to the circuit card. The ground block includes drain wire channels receiving corresponding drain wires. The ground block is electrically conductive to electrically connect the drain wires.

Contact module for a header assembly

A header assembly includes a header housing and contact modules coupled to the header housing each having a frame assembly with a signal leadframe and a dielectric frame. The dielectric frame includes mating portion extensions at a front of the dielectric frame. The signal leadframe includes mating portions extending forward from the mating portion extensions. Each contact module includes a ground shield having ground shrouds providing electrical shielding for the mating portions. Each ground shroud includes shroud walls forming a shroud cavity receiving the corresponding mating portion extension. Each ground shroud includes a shroud transition to vary a depth of the shroud cavity along a length of the ground shroud.

LOSSY MATERIAL FOR IMPROVED SIGNAL INTEGRITY

An electrical contact for an electrical connector includes a contact body and a lossy material located on the contact body. An electrical connector includes contacts with a lossy material located on the contact body. A method of applying a lossy material to a contact for an electrical connector includes providing a contact and applying the lossy material to the contact.

A plug connector adapted for connecting corresponding wires includes an insulative body integrally formed with two rows of plug contacts in a lateral direction and a transverse bar. The plug contacts are categorized with differential-pair contacts and grounding contacts alternately arranged with each other in a longitudinal direction. The transverse bar extends along the longitudinal direction perpendicular to the lateral direction and is unitarily linked to rear ends of all the grounding contacts of each row of plug contacts while being isolated from the differential-pair contacts. All the contacts and the transverse bar are stamped from a same sheet metal initially, and the differential-pair contacts are successively disconnected from the transverse bar after the plug contacts are integrally formed with the insulative body.

A data cable plug connector for data transmission includes a plug body comprising a cable connection end, a plug connection end and a plug shield. The cable connection end has a first connection channel for a first insulated conductor, a second connection channel for a second insulated conductor, and a shield connection for a conductor shield. The plug connection end has a contact carrier with contact openings for receiving contacts which are connectable to the insulated conductors. The cable connection end has an impedance transmitter made of electrically conductive material disposed adjacent to the contact carrier, the connection channels being formed in the impedance transmitter, and at least one material that is electrically conductive at least in parts being formed between the connection channels channel. Openings of the connection channels facing the contact carrier open into the openings of the contact carrier.

A coaxial connector device includes a first signal contact member joined to a central conductor of a first coaxial cable, a second signal contact member joined to a central conductor of a second coaxial cable, a ground contact member has an annular fitting portion arranged around the first and second signal contact members and is joined to the outer conductors of the respective first and second coaxial cables, and a flat partition provided with a ground potential and located between the first signal contact member and the second signal contact member.

Cable connector

A cable connector includes a cable having wire pairs and contacts in contact pairs. The contacts of the contact pairs may be simultaneously crimped to the corresponding wires by a crimp tool. Pair holders hold the contact pairs with an overmolded body molded around supporting bases of the contacts of the contact pair to fix relative positions of the contacts. The cable connector includes a pair shield having shield elements forming shield pockets receiving wire pairs, contact pairs, and pair holders. The cable connector includes a retainer having a retainer cavity that receives the wire pairs and the pair shield. The retainer includes a contact support to support the pair holders and the contact pairs. The cable connector includes an outer shell having an outer shell cavity that receives the retainer and provides electrical shielding for the contact pairs.
