Digital arc-less connector

Described is a power connector device for separating an electrical connection under direct current (DC) voltage or alternating current (AC) voltage between an electrical connector element and an electrical contact element. The power connector device includes the electrical contact element. The electrical contact element has a first conductive part and a second conductive part spaced apart one from the other so as not to be directly electrically conductively connected to one another. The power connector device includes a semiconductor switch for maintaining an electrical connection between the electrical connector element and the electrical contact element during separation of contact between said electrical connector element and said first conductive part to thereby prevent arcing during electrical disengagement of the electrical connector element from the electrical contact element. The first conductive part of the electrical contact element is only electrically connected to the second conductive part of the electrical contact element when the semiconductor switch is activated or when the electrical connector element is in contact with both the first and second conductive parts of the electrical contact element.

The switch receives the plug prong, and the switch is substantially flush with a wall that includes the electrical receptacle.

Electrical current connector

Various embodiments are described that relate an electrical current connector. The electrical current connector can be configured to provide electrical current when pressure is applied to a prong set. This pressure can cause a contact to engage with a connector. This can complete a circuit that allows the electrical current to flow. The connector can be coupled to a cable that can be configured to transfer data along with the electrical current. The cable can have an inner portion that transfers the data while an outer portion that surrounds the inner portion transfers the current.

A shut off circuit is integrated into the power supply and the shut off circuit turns off the power supply when the shut off circuit receives an alert input. A smoke detector is integrated into the power supply to detect smoke. A carbon monoxide sensor is integrated into the power supply to sense carbon monoxide. A temperature sensor is integrated into the power supply and the temperature sensor is in thermal communication with the power supply. The shut off circuit turns off the power supply when the smoke detector detects smoke, the carbon monoxide sensor senses carbon monoxide or the temperature sensor senses excessive heat.

An electrical connector assembly includes a first electrical contact device and a second electrical contact device. The first electrical contact device includes at least one first electrical contact and an actuator movable between a first position and a second position. The second electrical contact device includes at least one second electrical contact device and an interlock feature to engage the actuator when the actuator is in the first position. The actuator is in the first position when the first electrical contact is in electrical communication with a power source, and the actuator is in the second position when the electrical communication between the first electrical contact and the power source is disconnected. When the actuator is in the first position and the second electrical contact engage the first electrical contact, the interlock feature engages the actuator, thereby securing the first electrical contact device and the second electrical contact device against disconnection.

Device for locking a plug on a switchable power socket

A device for protecting a plug-in connection between a first power plug of an electric appliance and a switchable power socket. The switchable power socket has a socket for receiving the first power plug and a second power plug for coupling the switchable power socket to an electrical mains. The device has a wall which, when the device is installed, at least partially surrounds the switchable power socket with the first power plug plugged therein. The wall is formed with a plug-side recess in which the second power plug at least partially penetrates the wall. The wall covers the first power plug at least partially, when the device is installed, in order to prevent the first power plug from being pulled out of the socket. A sensor detects whether or not the wall surrounds the switchable power socket and informs a control unit that controls the electrical device.
