MODULAR ELECTRICAL CONTROL SYSTEM
A modular electrical control system includes a switch module, having at least an on state and an off state, configured to draw power from an AC power source and to control power delivery to at least one external load, the switch module including a detector that determines whether a neutral wire is connected to the switch module, and a removable user interface module configured to connect to the switch module and receive power from the switch module, wherein the switch module delivers a first amount of power to the user interface module when the detector determines that the neutral wire is connected to the switch module, and delivers a second amount of power to the user interface module lower than the first amount of power when the detector determines that the neutral wire is not connected to the switch module.
ELECTRICAL OUTLET INCORPORATING A CHARGER FOR ELECTRONICS DEVICES AND A COVER PLATE THEREFOR
An electrical outlet cover plate (10) sized to fit over the front of an electrical outlet. The cover plate has openings (18, 20) for accessing electrical receptacles (12, 14). A slot (24) extends vertically along one side of the cover plate and facilitates installation of an electronic device charger (26) and its associated cord (34) in the outlet. A plate (38) covers the slot and has a projection (42) formed thereon through which an outer end of the cord extends with a connector (36) on the outer end of the cable attaching to an electronic device for charging the electronic device.
Electrical countertop box with trapdoor cover
An electrical box assembly for mounting an electrical component in a countertop. The assembly includes an electrical box with an enclosure adapted to receive electrical wiring. A sidewall on the electrical box includes one or more channels each including a channel bottom, a ramp, and a channel cover with a slot. A mounting bracket includes a base and two arm members and is loosely assembled to the electrical box with the mounting fasteners. A cover bracket is secured in each of the slots. A cover provides access to the electrical component and includes a cover plate, a cavity for housing an electrical component, and a snap-engagement latch for selectively latching the electrical component outward of the cover plate or inward within the electrical box enclosure. Installation time and effort are minimized as site preparation requires only a single hole that may be made with a standard size hole-saw.
QUICK CONNECT
An electrical connection assembly includes an electrical box including a housing having an internal surface defining an internal volume of the housing. An electrical connector is positioned outside the internal volume of the housing and fixed to the housing with a fastener. The housing includes an aperture having an opening defining an insertion path extending from a location external to the housing to a location within the internal volume of the housing. The assembly includes a plug having a flange portion and a plurality of resilient legs. A bracket for mounting an electrical box to a structure includes a corner connecting a first flange with a second flange. An assembly including an electrical box and a bracket is also provided.
QUICK CONNECT
An electrical connection assembly includes an electrical box including a housing having an internal surface defining an internal volume of the housing. An electrical connector is positioned outside the internal volume of the housing and fixed to the housing with a fastener. The housing includes an aperture having an opening defining an insertion path extending from a location external to the housing along a frame of the electrical connector to a location within the internal volume of the housing. The assembly includes a disc mechanically secured to the housing relative to the opening to obstruct the insertion path. A retainer and a bushing including a membrane for the electrical connector as well as methods of making an electrical connector are also provided.
ELECTRICAL BOX MOUNTING TOOL
Apparatus for facilitating mounting of an electrical box on an associated stud of an associated building which includes an elongated support comprising 1st and 2nd telescoping elongated support members dimensioned and configured for sliding for relative sliding engagement whereby the overall length of the 1st and 2nd telescoping elongated members is adjustable, the elongated support having 1st and 2nd opposed sides. A support plate is carried on the elongated support, the support plate is pivotally attached to the elongated support with at least a portion thereof extending laterally with respect to the elongated support whereby pivotal motion of the support plate positions the portion from the 1st side to the 2nd sides of the elongated support. Engagement surfaces on the portion are dimensioned and configured for engaging an associated electrical box.
ADJUSTABLE GANG BOX
An adjustable gang box includes a bracket configured to be secured to a fixed structural component and a receptacle having a sidewall defining an inner volume. The bracket includes a first guide and the receptacle includes a second guide configured to engage the first guide. The receptacle is movable relative to the bracket by way of the engagement between the first guide and the second guide. The receptacle and the bracket can include cooperating members to secure the receptacle at a desired depth relative to a wall or stud to which the gang box is mounted.
Expanded two-gang electrical box
A wall-mounted enclosure having a standard forward-facing opening but also having an expanded enclosure behind the opening. The opening allows the use of conventional prior art components (such as cover plates). The expanded enclosure allows a more generous bend radius for the creation of a service loop in a fiber optic cable or similar component.
FLOOR MOUNT STAND FOR ELECTRICAL BOXES
A floor mount stand that is connectable to an electrical box includes a frame connectable to the electrical box to support the electrical box on a floor and a brace that is removably connected to the frame. The brace is connectable to the frame to extend to the adjacent vertical studs.
Bracket for mounting an electrical box to the open face of a metal stud
A Z-bracket is adapted for mounting an electrical box to the open face of a metal stud. The invention has two mounting platforms with self-tapping screw holes. The flat brackets of an electrical box are secured to these mounting platforms. The invention has a retaining tab with at least one retaining indentation for screwing the retaining tab to the open face of a metal stud. A connector connects the retaining tab to the mounting platforms. The front edge of each mounting platform has a groove, which accommodates the tongue on a tab of the metal stud. Multiple triangular braces connect the mounting platforms to the connector for structural support. The invention is sized to fit a standard metal stud, providing an improved method for attaching electrical boxes to the open face of a metal stud.
