A stack-type stator includes: a multi-layer substrate having first through holes; coil patterns formed on the respective substrates of the multi-layer substrate and spirally patterned to surround the first through holes and to form a plurality of turns; a stator yoke disposed at a lower portion of the multi-layer substrate and having second through holes at positions corresponding to the first through holes; and divided cores each having one side protruding above the coil patterns formed on the uppermost layer of the multi-layer substrate and the other side being coupled to one of the second through holes through one of the first through holes.

The motor is driven by the current outputted from the generator, to thereby output second rotational power. The control device controls the supply current adjustment device to change the inductance of the winding, in accordance with the torque requirement.

A permanent magnet machine and a rotor assembly for the permanent magnet machine. The permanent magnet machine includes a stator assembly including a stator core configured to generate a magnetic field and extending along a longitudinal axis with an inner surface defining a cavity and a rotor assembly including a rotor core and a rotor shaft. The rotor core is disposed inside the stator cavity and configured to rotate about the longitudinal axis. The rotor assembly further including a plurality of permanent magnets for generating a magnetic field which interacts with the stator magnetic field to produce torque. The permanent magnets are disposed within one or more cavities formed in a sleeve component. The sleeve component configured to include a plurality of cavities or voids therein and thus provide minimal weight to the permanent magnet machine. The permanent magnet machine providing increased centrifugal load capacity, increased power density and improved electrical performance.

AIR GAP CONTROL SYSTEMS AND METHODS

In one embodiment, an apparatus includes a first member that supports a magnetic flux carrying member and a second member that supports a magnetic flux generating member disposed for movement relative to the first member. An air gap control system is coupled to at least one of the first member or the second member and includes an air gap control device that is separate from a primary magnetic flux circuit formed between the first member and the second member. The air gap control device is configured to exert a force on one of the first and second members in response to movement of the other of the first and second members in a direction that reduces a distance between the first and second members to maintain a minimum distance between the first and second members and/or substantially center the one of the first and second members within the other.

An axial flux electric machine includes a rotor assembly rotatable about an axis, and a stator assembly. The stator assembly includes a stator face defining an air gap along an axial direction with the rotor assembly, the stator assembly further including a yoke, the yoke including a back surface, the back surface defining an inwardly sloped angle with the radial direction greater than two degrees.

A vehicle including an engine, a generator, a motor, a driving member and a control device. The generator includes a rotor, a stator having a stator core with a winding wound thereon, and an inductance adjustment device that changes an inductance of the winding by changing magnetic resistance of a magnetic circuit for the winding that passes through the stator core. The current adjustment device adjusts a current outputted from the generator to the motor, which drives the driving member. The control device, upon receiving a request for increasing the current to be supplied to the motor, directs the inductance adjustment device to adjust the generator to operate in a state in which the inductance of the winding is low, directs the engine to increase a rotation speed thereof to increase the rotational power, and directs the current adjustment device to increase the output current of the generator.

An axial flux motor may include a stator, a rotor including a rotor frame and having a rotational axis, an axial air gap separating the stator and the rotor, the axial air gap corresponding to an axial position of the rotor frame, and at least one hydraulic actuator including a variable volume hydraulic fluid chamber defined within the rotor frame, wherein a change in the volume of the variable volume hydraulic fluid chamber causes a change in the axial position of the rotor frame and a corresponding change in the axial air gap separating the stator and the rotor.

ELECTRIC AXIAL FLUX MACHINE WITH PRETENSIONED STATOR COMPONENTS, AND ELECTRIC MACHINE ASSEMBLY COMPRISING SUCH AN ELECTRIC AXIAL FLUX MACHINE

An electric axial flux machine including a stator which has at least one stator half, a rotor which is arranged axially to the stator and which is rotatably mounted relative to the stator, and a rotor shaft which contacts the rotor in a rotationally fixed manner. A magnetic force acts between the rotor and the stator in the axial direction. Structural measures are taken in order to generate a pretension which pushes the at least one stator half away from the rotor in order to counteract the magnetic force.
